The Asus is without doubt alot better:

    Some reasons:
    1. It has a set of speakers.
    2. Display port can be very useful down the line as most graphics card have 4+ Display port sockets but only one DVI.
    3. Headphone jack on monitor in case the PC is located further away.

    Cons:
Both monitors are not IPS so if you plan to watch films/netflix etc from bed or a coach it will suck.
27"-28" is too big to ever add on an additional monitor (In my opinion, I currently have a 27" and 23" and its way over the top)

If I was in your position I would consider buying:

IPS panels are a huge upgrade and its hard to go back once you have a two monitor setup for you PC and this monitor would be a good long term investment. Downside is it the size isn't what you want but 24" is plenty big for a monitor in my opinion.
