    Hi all,
We were just informed we are in line for a MLL inspection. We had a WSE a few years ago but how is the MLL different, or is it?
What kind of detail do they expect? Is it just the usual folder inspection and sitting in on a few classes?
Any advice or tips from teachers that have been through it would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Primary or secondary? It's worth looking up the published reports on the DES site. Then I'd contact any local school who had one lately, as it seems to vary from inspector to inspector as to what their hobby horse it!

yes, the usual folders, they do sit in on classes...maybe 6 a day or so for 2 days. Most teachers were seen, except subs/ people in on Mat leave contracts etc. They meet all the relevant parties BOM, parents Council, post holders etc....its about the management of the school as much as the teaching going on in it. We had it and after a few weeks of total panic it was actually alright !!

We had one in January. Mostly a focus on Management and policies etc... although classes are inspected. 6 teachers or so were seen over 2 days, including my good self. They didn't ask me for any plans or folders, but the latter had to be made available by the department. Students and parents are surveyed. Overall feedback was positive, although one inspector got a fair going over for what was an incredibly inarticulate presentation of findings and recommendations at the end. Person who saw me was sound enough though. Best of luck anyways!

We had 3 days of lessons inspected so around 25 teachers were seen. They met BOM, all the postholders as a group and individually, PA, surveyed parents and students. All in all it took over a week. It was extremely thorough. We had a very positive report but found the whole process a nightmare. There were three inspectors. Staff weren't really happy with two of them.

We had one recently, they wanted to see all staff, in total they saw everyone at least once but seemed to focus in on learning support and wanted to see a lot of team teaching so some teachers had them in a few times.
They actually saw subs but didn't go into the recently dipped teachers .
They were pretty thorough but wanted to see evidence of assessment and differentiation in you fortrnightlys and yearlies.
They liked to see that the plans were used so don't be afraid of they are written on etc.
they met with parents assosiation , Bom, a group of parents, management etc.
it was a looooonnnnnggggg week but being honest the lead up to it was worse than the week itself.
They look at everything on your walls, make sure that there's nothing there that the children don't know.
They usually let the principal know that morning who they'd see so not much notice being honest.
Best of luck, the week will not be as bad as u think, ur lucky to have it now and not later on in the year ( you might not think that now thought 😄)
