Well if that isn't the worst sub tabloid trash I've read in ages ! Keep it up Andrew , ASTI Fightback and (maybe , fingers crossed ,)new Gen Sec , Mr Christie , you obviously have them worried to launch an attack like that .

Cant tell where Jan ends and Joe begins. Obnoxious effort.

Poor Sighle Humphreys would be rolling in her grave, and the O'Rahilly along with her.

Still, as a teacher it's an eye-opening experience to read him: if his egregiously uncritical acceptance of the Department's line on education-related issues is acceptable to the Irish Times editor, imagine how twisted, lazy and agenda-driven all the other reportage from Irish Times journalists is on the issues we know little about.

There hasn't even been the pretence of impartial journalism on the part of The Irish Times, not even an attempt to do research on what's happening. Just the lazy, but useful, mouthpiece of the state's politicians and senior civil servants. And then they print articles wondering why Irish people are more cynical about the media.

Well if you want to get that Ed. minister's advisory/spin doctor position you really have to up your game and tow the party line.

Anyone know who Jan's advisors are, or did she just keep on Ruairi's?
Any teacher's in there to advise?

I see both Humphreys and Martin Wall are in full offensive mode against secondary school teachers this morning. Hopefully, they'll get nice Christmas boxes from their handlers in the Department of Education for being partisan mouthpieces for their agenda. At the very least they'll be guaranteed enough stories to fill up the required space in their paper - all without any effort on their respective parts to actually work. What a handy number.

Opposing Lansdowne Road deal could leave Asti isolated

In the last article they attribute the following comment to Pat King: "It is a fact that when members were voting they did not know about or understand what is in FEMPI [the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Bill]. We do.” Pat King, as ASTI leader, had plenty of time to convince us with his understanding. He didn't even try yet now he's on record as saying teachers voted 'No' to the LRA because they were ignorant. Translation: "I'm retired now, please give me a few jobs on government bodies."

Hard to imagine how any union could have a worse leadership in 21st Century . Crying shame
