Thinking of buying a house, but nervous about mould on walls and in the air.

Had an expert in who said it's caused by condensation and recommended a PIV ventilation system.

    Anyone used one?

    Was it successful?

Can mould be 100& eliminated, or would that put anyone off buying??

    Cheers

We are getting a MHRV system installed in our house for the same reason, it was built in the 80's with single leaf cavity block and we can't afford to get it wrapped (at the moment), it's costing us about 4k to get done. The long term plan is to get it wrapped or move somewhere bigger and better insulated/constructed but with two small kids and another imminent we are prioritising the air quality first.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Imo, a MEV (Mechanical Extract Ventilation) system works better.

    No and no.

Any house, no matter how well built or otherwise, can have mould problems if the right internal conditions are allowed to exist (very often caused by occupant behaviour).
