A disgrace that the county board would spend money allowing a game like this to go ahead. The players would have got more exercise at a pool table!

Would not agree, how would you like to be "A Mary Immaculate IT" student facing your class mates tomorrow?

And with a game like this what kind of appetite does it leave the students with for playing hurling in the future?

We opted out of the Munster league because we thought we'd be getting these type of games and yet soon as we do that they revamped the league...bloody Munster council

Some tasty draws there. Mullinahone against arguably the three best sides in the north. Great tests there.

I doubt most Mary I students will care too much to be perfectly honest.
Shame Tipperary management pulled out of January competition as that would have been much better prep than what we have done this month...

Apathy is the last thing we want from any hurling players!

The game was organised over 12 months ago, no one could have known that Mary I would be playing Fitzgibbon three days later and as a result would field what was in affect their third choice team.

    What money exactly was spent?

Draw in Kilmallock. Credit to both teams in atrocious conditions. Setback for us. Extra pressure to beat our rivals now with 1 pt dropped

Pity, really needed to win today to have a chance of promotion.

Missing the commercials players and also with COR, SOB having left. Bill Maher with hurlers and the likes of Philip Quirke missing

I'd fancy Kildare for the division tbh with O'Neill in charge. If we relegate we can safely put our pie in the sky 2020 target in the dustbin

We can do that as it goes but we should at least aim to be a div 1 team by then

The focus should be on specialising over the next few years although in a county such as Tipp that might be very hard to do

I think the u-21's have a very strong team again this year. Some very good players from last seasons team so hopefully they have a great year again.

Playing Kerry in the opening game, couldn't be tougher.

I hope you're right,I feel we threw this away last year with a very good team.

Your being harsh there. We played against weather, cheats and a poor ref and lost by the minimum. We were heroic that night and played until the bitter end.

Very naive I thought especially in the early part of the second half, the huge break at half time didn't help either as we spent 15 minutes warming up in the rain while Tyrone never emerged from the dressing room.

We lost by a point though, 1 point! We also finished the stronger and battered their defence toward the end. Just couldn't find that vital score. I take your point about the warming up but if it was the other way around would we consider that we might ask why we stayed in the dressing room while Tyrone stayed active? Events at half time were sadly unprecedented. No preparing for that.

We lost by a point but it's a game we really should have won.

Granted what happened at half time was tragic but for me the kick outs decided the game, Tyrone reverted to short kicks in the second half, in a game were possession was hard to come by in poor conditions they started to dominate the game. We continued to kick long and iirc we must have lost 7 or 8 kick outs in a row and it was putting huge pressure on our backs. We eventually changed to short kick outs once we went behind and started to dominate again but just ran out of time.

That's my memory of the game, I never watched it back on TV though.

Perhaps we should have won but overall I would take more positives from that performance with regards to our overall development.

Is Philip Quirke back on the Tipp Snr panel or is his leg buggered?

Your correct about the hurlers in fairness. They hurled a short game on a rainy night and were awful the first half
