Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And the Navy getting plaudits for doing a job they're trained to do. Makes a change from catching fishermen who've exceeded their quota.

Interviewer to high ranking cop in full uniform: "now, you're the head of the plainclothes division?"

    Cop: "that's correct"

Interviewer: "so why are you wearing a uniform?"

    Cop: "it's my day off"

    :D

This is a propaganda exercise. There are no heroes on the European side in this refugee crisis.

Since when was it our navies job to rescue thousands of people off the coast of Africa & since when has our navy been trained to do that? The odd daft eegit out for a sale off the coast of Youghal, yes, but not thousands of people in unfamiliar waters. Off course they deserve praise for going above and beyond the call of duty.

I don't care what kind of training these lads had, no training would prepare you for what they saw or had to deal with.

It's the biggest refugee crisis to hit Europe since WW2. None of their experiences up until now would compare in any way.

    Introducing the New Boards.ie!

Don't know about anyone else, but I preferred the old Boards.ie - the one that worked properly.

It's killing me, I have soooo many super clever and witty observations to share, but boards can't keep up.
