I'm going to upgrade my laptop. I'm currently using an ASUS S500, which is fantastic as a laptop for college, browsing etc. I'm getting more into gaming though. My laptop does run some game quite well on Steam, but it tends to overheat quite easily and is obviously not built as a gaming computer. I don't have space for a desktop gaming rig, so I want to get a new laptop that can run decent games.

DISCLAIMER: Before any PC-master race people reply saying how much cheaper it would be to build a computer, please just recommend pre-built ready models. I have literally no clue about specs or how a computer functions on the technical side. I would not trust myself to tamper with wires/components etc.

    Here's what my situation is:
    - Price range is anything up to €850 (but preferably something around €700)
    - I'm not intending to run really new games (like GTA V) which require ultra high performance
    - I'm also getting into small-scale podcast editing and will need something able to run editing software if possible
    - Preferably, I would like to buy from the Ireland/UK
    - If you REALLY think you can build a cheap and high-performance laptop, give me your costs and I might be able to hire you to do the job

For your budget, I would recommend you look into building a mini-ITX system (e.g. in a Thermaltake Core V1 case) or a Steam machine, very few laptops will have a good GPU/CPU combo for €850.

And building a PC is relatively easy these days; the parts fit together almost like Lego.

Firstly you cant build laptops-they are not pcs, only parts you can change is usually memory and hhd-sdd drive thats as far as you can go,there are other options like using external gpu,but that would be way out of budget and convenience.

anyway without at least 1000e there isnt much to choose from, and worth spending really

Check out PC Specialist. Some flexability there to choose your own spec, get the laptop without Windows for less, and so on.

On that budget, you'd be looking at a GTX950 class card. Which is pretty decent as mobile cards go, and if you're not playing the latest intensive games it will last you a long time.
