This is a pretty cool piece of software that I figured some of you lot might be interested in. You can explore space in its entirety and it has real 1:1 scale distances between planets. You can travel from 1m/s up to giga lightyears per second...if you want to speed things up. Uses real astronomical data from the HIPPARCOS and NGC catalogues.

SpaceEngine - a free space simulation program that lets you explore the universe in three dimensions, from planet Earth to the most distant galaxies. Areas of the known universe are represented using actual astronomical data, while regions uncharted by astronomy are generated procedurally. Millions of galaxies, trillions of stars, countless planets - all available for exploration. You can land any planet, moon or asteroid and watch alien landscapes and celestial phenomena. You can even pilot starships and atmospheric shuttles.

    Instructions:
Download and install space engine 0.9.7.2 first, then download the patch 0.9.7.3 and copy into your install folder.

There's also an optional ~37GB texture pack for high resolution images of planets in our solar system.

    Enjoy!
