Hi- wedding in 6mos, exclusive hire where we're paying nearly €3.5k in hire fee. Been waiting for menus, just got them and they're a lot more than we were given to believe. An estimate was floated earlier of €55-75 and we thought this was for whole day (canapés, BBQ, late night snack. They've come in now at about €65-90. Other thing is there's no starter in the lowest price option and none of the options allow for a choice of meats at BBQ (our main reasons for BBQ was cost and variety)

I'm clueless with wedding menus but this seems loads - would've thought a selve serve BBQ would be significantly cheaper than sit down meal? And considering we're paying large hire fee. The food is great and organic - but as a comparison their regular 3 course dinner menu is €30! Also, wine is starting at €25 and when we asked about bringing our own we were quoted €12 corkage!! Looking for some advice on negotiation/haggling tactics? Thanks!

Negotiate the corkage. That's very high and you could be paying half that for wine. Honestly I think if you got everything you say for 65 euro you'd be doing well. Especially if food is nice. Although that venue hire is quite an amount..

The prices can be a bit overwhelming... Does seem a little steep for BBQ meal and corkage is mad alright..

Would defiantly try and haggle them down. Have ye weighed up lets say this place compared to another all included typical style venue..

We went for a rental place and if it helps guidelines prices were about €45/50 for a sit down three course, meal, including all cutlery hire, canapés and late night nibbles. We had a bbq the next day burgers/sausages and salads and lets say it was between €10/15 euro all very free range produce..

Wine we were able to bring our own in with now corkage as we were renting the venue. I would think that unless you are mad wine fans then just leave the wine with whatever wine selection they have in the venue. People wont mind...

Be sure also to get a list from the venue if you are worried as to what is provided linen, electricity etc some places charge extra for this

we paid 12.50 corkage in our exclusive hire venue as well. Lowest price wine they had was 23 or 24 euro. We brought in our own and saved about 300 euro (Super value deal). Brought in our own champagne for the drinks reception as well and corkcage for champagne was 15 euro.

And the menu prices only covered starter , mains & dessert. Canapes and late night food were separate as well the same. So their cheapest price is 65 euro and that is for no starter, no choice of mains BBQ and dessert? I would expect a starter at that price, even for a high end establishment.

How long ago did you book this venue?
