Contemplating a PhD in Organic Chemistry

Hey Folks.

I'm contemplating applying for a PhD in organic chemistry and any advice would be great.

I completed a BSc in pharmaceutical chem back in 2011 then worked for a year in an R&D chemistry lab which I really enjoyed. About a year ago I completed a taught organic chemistry masters and I work in QC chem atm.

I've took a look around and there doesn't seem to be any funded scholarships available in the area advertised.If anyone could give me advice on the best route apply or tips on how the process works it would really appreciated.

Just be very careful applying to the UK for PhD's. Most fully funded studentships / scholarships have a requirement that you were ordinarily resident in the UK for the previous 3 years to starting the PhD. If you do not meet these requirements then either you aren't eligible altogether, or worse still - you will be accepted but aren't eligible for the stipend. You will only have your fees paid as an EU resident. This means you're essentially working for free (losing out on ~£15k a year).
