    Hi all,
im on the UPC (Virgin) 240mb internet and its no where near that speed, but lately my macbook pro is failing to load pages sporadically in firefox, safari etc... everything seems to be fine with google chrome, but i have hundreds of bookmarks etc in Firefox. The software is up to date so im at a loss...
    any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks

Open up Chrome and go to this site:

    http://www.speedtest.net/

    And check your speed.

Does firefox have a lot of extensions installed? It also may be worth changing your DNS settings on the router to point at google or what ever DNS server you want, as I've found UPC's DNS service to be ****e at times.
