It'd be nice if they could speed the process up for people though. Looking at most of the posts on here it seems to be taking an age to get anywhere in the process.

Well stage 2 is been completed for some candidates by the middle or end of this month.

    It's 1791 I emailed them :(

I'm sorry if ur far side of 1791 and before 1971 but if ur just out side it, keep practising as they will get through ppl quickly. Between ppl pulling out and not getting through exams, it might not be as long as ppl think.

Hi, does anyone know if there are any Irish classes available specifically for the Irish exam as part of the Garda Recruitment. I took foundation Irish for leaving cert and I didnt do another language other than English?

What stage is the Irish exam tested?

You may not have to take it until you pass stage 2 as at stage 2 they ask for a copy of your leaving certificate results. Only after you submit them you will know.

I have passed stage 1 and am awaiting stage 2 call. I will not be called in the early rounds for this stage but if I am successful in stage 2, I will have to do Irish exam. Have you any idea what this involves as I will need help to improve level of Irish as it's quite a few years since I did Leaving Cert.

It looks like they will have all candidates complete stage 2 over the Summer. I think there is about 5000 candidates. It is a lot more efficient this time. Last time people were waiting 18 months to sit the next stage.

Hi does anyone have any advice for me.
I placed late 2000's and its looking as though they are moving through candidates quicker than expected.
I am close to the 2800 and worried I could be called soon I have arranged to go on a j1 this summer and now I am terrified I will miss my chance at stage 2.
I had estimated I wouldn't even be called to stage 2 till next year based on the slow progress of the last campaign.
will I just have to miss this opportunity and wait till the drive if I go??

I wouldn't worry bout it to much of you miss the opportunity this time. With the way things are going recruitment should be fairly regular for the foreseeable future. Who knows you might be back in time for the stage 2 exams. It's important to get a bit of life experience before settling into a career like AGS

Received a text from Public Jobs today at about 5 o'clock, inviting me to the next session of Stage 2. Set to take place in early July, was placed in the early 3000's if anybody was looking for new info on the process.

I hope things will speed up for you guys given the recent commitment to 15,000 gardaí/minister's recent assessment of the costing for bringing it to 16,000.

Lord knows we could do with more of us..!

Thats great to hear. At first I thought some would be waiting up to a year to be called to stage 2. Do you think they will have everyone interviewed by the end of the year?

Hi lads, can any of you guess when there will be a new recruitment campaign?

I'm currently working abroad but I've been interested in joining AGS for years. I'm due to renew my work contract until August 2017.

Do you think it'd be better to come home and wait for a new recruitment campaign to start, or come back in August 2017? I don't want to miss the next opportunity to apply because I'm almost 32 now. Getting close to the cut off age.

Thanks a lot lads, and sorry if this is a bit off topic for this 2015 thread.

The last campaign was 2014 and this one was 2016. So going by two years is a good guess. Theoretically you could stay abroad and do the application and just just travel over.
