I'm on very expensive medicine here in Ireland which I get on the Medical Card. Obviously it would be impossible to bring a years supply on a WHV so I'm wondering how I would go about getting it in Australia and what assistance is available on costs? It's €1000 a month in Ireland and I guess more in AUS which I would simply be unable to pay.

I would doubt there is much support available to you. Irish citizens are allowed emergency treatment for free (e.g.. broken arm/leg) however non emergency things are not funded. If you have you have worked in the UK for long enough to get NHS benefits they transfer across. You only become eligible for Medicare upon receipt of Permanent Residency.

    pm me details
    I'm in that business.
First I need to know if it's on market here. PBS is a bit particular on what it allows. I am going to guess that a specialist needs to prescribe it. So that means you see GP first then get referral GP is around $85, specialist $200+. If it's on market on the PBS list & specialist deems you qualify certain criteria subject to blood tests and/or previous history & he writes authority for it, you'll pay $37.70. This will increase by around $2 Jan 1st. Otherwise it's private & I'll need details to give you a quote.
You can Google yourself on pbs.gov.au website. If you're getting it on medical card., try get your trusty Dr to write a year or 6mths of it. Or has GMS clamped down, finally, on bulk supplies? And is it a fridge item?
I've known others who just brought a year of whatever it was, non fridge.
