    Hi,

I'm currently a clinical nurse manager in a psychiatric acute admissions unit. Have 15 years experience as a psychiatric nurse, 9 as a ward manager. Totally fed up and looking for a move.

Do you any of you have any idea if i could transfer my skills to another career. Google is a bit all over the place...

    thanks

    Hi Tinner 777
Just wondering if you found a new career choice. I am a nurse and constantly find myself wanting to leave the profession and don't know where to start.

Thanks for your reply. I feel completely lost! There isn't much opportunities at present. Good luck!

    Hi there

Any luck with a move? I am also a psychiatric nurse with 17 years experience. did you ever think about starting a business in healthcare? It has crossed my mind. I'm not sure whether I'd have the guts to take the leap! Life is short but where bills have to be paid it's difficult to leave a secure job.

hey Molly, didn't do anything, spent more and more time off the ward training, if I didn't have kids etc I think I'd jump ship.

What business were you thinking of?

    Hi Tinner

I am still working away but I would love to use my skills independently. I was thinking about starting some small groups in the evenings-

Any ideas yourself ? I hope your training is going well.

    Hi guys

Do u mind if i ask why do ye want to leave nursing? What are the down sides to the job? Im contemplating a career change and thinking of doing something in the medical area . Might be mad though considering the cost of going back to do a degree in something like nursing

    Hi,

nothing specific, a bit bored after 20 years, still a great job.

I presume after 20 years that you would have some additional courses done such as Health and Safety, I.T. etc
There would be options in the pharmaceutical industry, general manufacturing etc.
I suggest that a couple of sessions with a good career guidance specialist and/or employment agency might be worthwhile. They could develop your C.V. and show options that you may never thought of
