Tried the €6 spice bag from Bamboo House on Friday night and found it disappointing, it was essentially just the chili chicken with chips but the chips contained little / no seasoning, think I'll stick to the chili chicken on it's own in future.

On a positive note it was a HUGE portion and even though there were two of us we couldn't finish it all. Excellent value money wise just lacking flavour!

Got one (they call it a Spicy Bag) on Saturday form Bamboo House, it was an almighty feed. Could have been spicier, but I got a tub of curry as well so I was well happy. Wasn't expecting the volume!

Portion is quite big all right. Decent for 6 quid.
Mine wasn't too spicy, just seasoned but very tasty.

Tub of curry with it is a good call.

The funny thing is I know a girl who works in a Chinese restaurant and she was stupified when I told her about this. Told her to put it on the menu, they sold 7 first day :pac:

I got a spice bag from the Lemontree on College Road recently and they must have put a full packet of salt into it.

    Way too salty!!!

What is it chicken and chips?

Had it from Bamboo, would have fed two. Don't think there is any chilli in it just salt and pepper chicken, chips and shredded veg.

Saw a chinese on Shandon street with a sign up saying 16euro for a spice bag, is that good value or a bit on the expensive side?

    .

It must be a family bag;)

Our local has the bag for €6 and a box for €20. The box consists of wings, ribs, chicken balls, chips, chilli chicken and sauce. Its a beast and easily feeds three/four people.

Most Chinese restaurants in Dublin have them.

No use to anybody in this thread:p

The Lemon Tree on College Rd (near Gilabbey) definitely does one. They're definitely not as popular in Cork as they are in Dublin. But surely more Chinese takeways must be doing them by now??
