Should have been a pen to Argentina for not releasing.

what annoys me that such a non clearcut yellow , really has the potential to ruin the game as competitive spectacle. RWC should be about growing the game , not a referees ego

It's about as clear cut as a yellow gets? Player deliberately tackles when they know full well they were within the 10 metres. A player has pretty much no defence. If the ref just gives another penalty, then the defending team will know to just do it every time, as they're just getting the same punishment they already had.

The problem comes when refs decide to not punish players (like with Genia doing it last week), so the refs who give the yellow come off as looking harsh.

Ah I think he just had a brain fart rather than cynically trying to stop play

Any penalty can be called a brain fart. Stupidity is not an excuse. There is absolutely no way he can think he was 10 metres back so it has to be a yellow. If he pulled him back no one would say it wasn't a yellow, he just managed to make it look clumsy but it has the same effect.

    Pumas look crocked.

What an awful match to watch.

Ugh -50 meters and a penalty to SA sometimes it really is better to just hold onto the darn football.

Habana the Diva with another dive tonight.

It was the Argie what dived

TMOs have basically stopped calling things in play since the pool stages. It was right in front of Lacey.

I really wish this Argentina team turned up against us!

Jeasus, apart from aa few breaks they have been terrible!

They still can bring things to the refs attention

I think the Lacey Bashing is OTT-

Ever ref lads, I haven't reffed rugby but boxing and all you know is no one is watching what you are, usually they are looking at their own players/fighters

No, a yellow would have sufficed, but the standard of refereeing is dreadful, small teams rarely get the rub, something i hate about rugby

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

I'm shouting for Argie, I don't think they're being hard done by, they're just not at the races

Sanchez getting tips from the Argentinian soccer team in taking contact it seems.

    Because of the ref???

The Welsh spear tackle was red- the ref was correct

SA got away with a no arm chop tackle, that's about it.

a yellow would have sufficed - you think the standard of refeeeing is good , I don't - i want the game to grow , not stifled by pedantic refeees.

But is it the fault of the refs for refereeing the rules, or the players for not obeying them?

Grow in what way? Allows cheap illegal tackles til something very serious happens? The spear tackle is very dangerous Red every day

    Lovely DG by Sanchez!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,529 ✭✭✭BoardsMember

He also missed a clear pen after the Argentina break, a saffer on the wrong side slowing ball. Often that would be a yellow, very cynical.

Blatant high tackle by Pollard and blatant forward pass before the try.

but they rarely favour the under dog - let the game flow - i want to enjoy rugby , not watch a game ruined by weak refereeing , maybe i expect too much - but seen too many games ruined by poor refeeeing and TMO intereence
