Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gore? Supernatural? Monsters? Psychological? Body horror? New? Old? What's your preference?

Well in that case I really recommend The Fly, The Thing and Re-Animator if you haven't seen them yet.

That came pretty poorly rated on RT.

    Is it really that good?

All things are a matter of taste. Personally I loved it :)

Someone else might find it slow or whatever :)

The Changeling (1980). Very spooky ghost movie with some good scares.

Don't watch the official trailer because it gives too much away.

You're likely looking at the terrible US remake.

    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/oldboy/?search=oldboy
Here ya go, can vouch for it bneing a great movie though not really horror.

I forgot there even was a remake... was bamboozled anybody could say the original Oldboy was bad. Not everybody's cup of tea, sure.

I just watched "Saw" for the first time.

****in' excellent, except for the ending, but most horror endings suck.

    Brilliant film though.

Don't know how it got such a low rating on RT.

It Follows is good. The Babadook is dreadful, after all the glowing reviews I was looking forward to it but it was muck.

The last really good, scary horror film made in my humble opinion is the original Japanese version of Ring.

Someone already mentioned The Thing (one of my favorites) but the director, John Carpenter, has some very good horrors on his CV from the same era:-

    Halloween
    The Fog
    Christine
Prince of Darkness - some great ideas in this one
They Live - not strictly speaking a horror but a must watch all the same

Sadly his output has been pretty poor since then but it's not a bad record.

The critics rating on rotten tomatoes can differ massively to the audience rating i.e. 48% for critics and 84% for the audience, it also gets 7.7/10 for the audience on IMDB. I guess critics are analyzing it differently then us.

Have you seen the original Japanese Dark Water?

I'd rate Wolf Creek myself. The first Wolf Creek. Not a horror or supernatural in any way but quite gripping and unsettling.
