So I've settled on my first ever gaming PC! I'm so excited. :D I'll post the build, then ask my question afterwards as it relates to compatibility and bottlenecking for future upgrades.

    Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - €50.54
    Crucial Ballista DDR3 RAM 4GBx2 - €43.31
    Intel Core i5 4460 - €186.98
    MSI H81M P33 - €44.34
    Thermaltake Hamburg PSU 530w - €52.50
    Sharkoon VS4 S Case - €27.81
    MSI GTX960 4GB OC - €212. 83

Total price after VAT - €618.01 and with delivery - €641.66

I've already decided that I want to upgrade to a GTX980ti as I have a 4k Samsung. I'll start saving for that please god after Xmas.

My question is, will I have any problems doing so with the current mobo, psu and cpu?

    Thanks for reading!

    Nice porn star name.

How tight is the budget. Where are you ordering from.

The power supply, the hamburg is not a great choice. iirc. I looked into them. Made alot of noise and heat. Pay the extra 10 euro for a better quality one.

The case. I know it comes down the line of priorities, because for some people(me included) it sits under the desk. And all that matters is the screen and beautiful visuals smashing your eyeballs into your skull. But.... I still put money and thought into it because..

First, those parts that make those visuals need to be kept cool to perform because if not second kicks in.
Second, the noise. You don't wanna cut your gaming short as someone is going to bed early and because of the cheap case you chose. Pc sounds like a hoover.
Third, cheaper cases alot of the time more annoying to build with.

Now after that long Winded lecture of sorts. 40 -50euro will get you a decent case depending on where you buying.

I know I specced your first build with a cheap case, but if you're going to a 980Ti you may as well picx up a nice Corsair, NZXT, BItfenix or Nanoxia right now, even just add €60-70 onto the case budget

Computeruniverse courtesy of Digital Solitude. They have some really great prices and seems to have deals quite often.

I've replaced the sharkoon with this. Pushing my budget a bit, wonder if it'll suffice?

Seriously, who cares about storage on a gaming pc. You should really have gone for an ssd, they are not that expensive these days and the 1TB cudas are not the most reliable. Swap it!

    That'll be a good upgrade.

You could get an R9 390 8GB now and then add a second one for crossfire down the line for full 4K gameplay. You'll need a €100 board and €70 for a 700W+ PSU, and add another €120 for the 390. So that would make it about 850 overall.

A single 8Gb R9 390 can do 4K at medium settings or so, and will give you a decent performance level until you can buy a second one whenever you get the money together. A GTX960 is going to be crap at 4K, pointless even.

    It's what I would do if I had a 4K display.

Thanks everyone again, you've been a huge help, a much bigger help than reddit that's for sure! :D

I've know changed the mobo to a Asrock B85 anniversary as it supports the cpu without a bios update (still no idea what that is). That upped the mobo price to €66.

Right now I'm content with 1080p gaming as I just want to get my first gaming PC and my budget is €700, I can't budge on that if I want it before Xmas.

Ah, sorry, I thought you were exclusively using the 4K display. The 960 is decent at 1080p.

I actually will be, I know upscaled images aren't ideal but my PS4 looks great on it and the upscaler in the TV is highly rated on rtings.com

Would this be better than the 530w Thermaltake Hamburg PSU?

No no. Worse. This is a few euro more expensive than the thermaltake one. 59 euro. Be quiet 7 500. But its a decent Psu.

If that's pushing the budget too much stick with the thermaltake one.

Thank you! I really had no idea just how important the PSU is for a system! Anyway, I'm going to re-post my final build, without a PSU and ask you if a 450w would suffice and if so, which one. Thanks again for the help!

You will get away with 450 on that particular set up.

And xfx is a decent Psu.
