    I don't think that the post office buy back sterling. They only sell it.

    You could be right actually I have only ever got sterling from there never tried to change any back.

    ..because the rates aren't as good as elsewhere. The "no commission" crud is just a way of hooking folks in.

    My friend from the UK but living in Ireland changes euro to sterling very often and always uses his local credit union branch in Co. Mayo. He reckons the Credit Union is the most economical way of changing currency

    Although An Post quote buy and sell rates on their website for US Dollars, UK Sterling, Canadian and Australian dollars, their FAQ clearly states that they only sell dollars and sterling and I assume that 'dollars' means USD only .....
