Upgrading from Sandybridge to Ivybridge on Gigabyte H61MA-DV3; need to BIOS update?

I just upgraded my Celeron G530 (Sandybridge) to an i5-3570k (Ivybridge).

I am having issues booting my PC, it struggles to spun its fans (primarily the fault of the CPU fan) before it can fully boot up but it displays nothing on the monitor.

Could it be I should have flashed the latest BIOS using my Celeron before I made the upgrade? The following list says the i5 is compatible with my motherboard (Gigabyte H61MA-DV3) but perhaps I should I put the Celeron back in and flash the BIOS?

Yes, it should be fine once you update the bios.
