So I signed up for Address Pal to get some items from Amazon UK but I'm having trouble putting in the address on Amazon. Say it needs a valid post code etc. The address is Hatfield so I assume I keep the setting on UK instead of R.O.I

yes , for all intends and purposes your delivery is a domestic Uk one, AP has a valid UK post code

This is the Amazon address format for AP that I have used since the new UK AP depot opened. I have had no issues with it.

Actually I left that out of my Amazon AP address and have had no issues but if you want to include it then do so.

It isn't required. An Post dont even include it on their website.

Yeah it's not on the original address they gave me either. But no harm in sticking it in I guess

Bloody Address Pal, shower of gits.
I have a fair-sized parcel being sent over, and a friend happens to work nearly next door to the AP depot, so he offered to drop it in and save me the postage at that end.
The utter swine wouldn't accept it from him because it's "not tracked". What a bunch of useless tossers.
Now I have to pay £18 for the parcel to travel less than ten miles in order for it to be delivered by a parcel monkey and a tracking number, which AP don't use anyway.

i wonder do they mean it has to be "posted" rather than just dropped off.
i've had things with no tracking number.

I jokingly suggested that to him, and it would have worked.
I suppose he was unlucky enough to run into some bellend at the depot.

Had issues with logging into my account as I was locked out and called the helpline number provided, which is the main An Post customer service number. Of course, this time of year they are rushed off their feet so it was 20 mins before the call was answered.

Your man couldn't help me so said he'd connect me to the AddressPal number. I asked him to call it out to me first, in case I was disconnected so here it is (in as elaborate a fashion as I can drum up for future searching purposes):

AddressPal / Address Pal Customer Support / Customer Care phone number: 01-7058866

When I rang it, the call was answered immediately and resolved in 30 seconds.

You get contact about tracking if getting home delivery from the UK but nothing if you use the post office collection option.

Yep, that's the first thing you'll hear from An Post. The original seller might have a delivery notification to their depot but that's the only way you'll know they have it.

Used the US AddressPal for the 1st time. Worked out pretty well. The items arrived at the New Jersey address in about 3 days, and then 7 days later (today) they were delivered to me. I'm pretty sure there should have been a 25% tariff (because it's men's footwear) and, I think, VAT, but the seller hadn't made any customs declaration because they weren't exporting, and the AddressPal label only stated the value as €20. Having said that, I've bought shoes from the states several times in the past and never been asked to pay any VAT or duties of any kind on them.

    Safety Footwear Information

    Safety Footwear VAT Rules
Safety boots are VAT rated 0% "Not Exempt of VAT" when purchased by an individual for industrial use. These must not be supplied to persons for use by their employees (buying for employees requires the purchaser to pay VAT by law), Purchases by VAT registered companies for safety boots must be paid & reclaimed in the usual way, Finally these rules do not apply to safety shoes or safety trainers, these products require a 20% VAT Payment no exceptions.
Simply put, if you're ordering safety boots for your own work use - you are exempt from paying VAT. If you are an employer purchasing safety boots for your employees, then this exemption does not apply and you should pay VAT at the prevailing rate.
If you are an individual purchasing safety boots for industrial use then you should enter the code 'SOLETRADER' at the checkout to change the VAT rate to 0%.
If you are buying safety boots for your employees you are required by law to pay 20% VAT and reclaim it in the usual way.
