Trying this out. Ordered from Amazon on Saturday using the free delivery. Let's see if I can get it by Friday!

According to DPD the depot that provides the UK Virtual address is open on Saturdays from 9am - 10:30am.

Now that is a major disadvantage over Parcelmotel for those who need Saturday delivery.

Thing is surely the guys from other companies like the royal mail etc would know this which is weird why their parcel couldn't be delivered.

Bought something using Amazon Prime on Thursday.
Delivered to DPD Mallusk on Friday.
Being delivered to my house today.

    Text/email updates all the way.

not bad getting 48 hour delivery for €3.85, assuming you wanted the other Amazon Prime services (tv/movies/music) anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 219 ✭✭IrishBlaine

Just ordered 2 items from Amazon Prime today but they shipped them separately but are due to be delivered tmro to DPD, Hopefully DPD count it as one shipment when they deliver it to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,499 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

Got normal amazon delivery arrive to dpd today, email/text right away and delivery tomorrow. Not sure why fridge magnet is a good idea though.....

you just better hope they don't delivery the fridge magnet separately and count it as one of your three freebies.
PM did similar with their merch when they launched iirc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,149 ✭✭✭✭Berty

DPD signed my name and delivered it to a neighbour and never told me. No thank you.

They post it to your postal address via An Post. It's not part of the 3 free deliveries.

Just gave it a go. I had to buy something small from Amazon (I could only seem to find it in bulk in Ireland which was much more than I needed) but the postage to Ireland was not making it worth my while. Problem solved.

Anyone know what they do about oversized parcels? I just got a 48" TV sent to Parcel Wizard from Amazon.

Parcel Motel usually charge you a fee which I'm fine with (and give you the option of home delivery); but Parcel Wizard don't mention this as an option in their FAQ - they only state a max size. So what will happen my TV when it arrives at their UK depot?

As far as I know DPD depots are open Saturdays

I got confirmation from DPD that the Antrim depot is closed Saturday's. Parcel was delivered to them today. No confirmation from DPD yet, only from Amazon.

Pretty poor so far. Won't be using this service again.

As far as I read they dais that they would charge normal Dpd rates for a parcel to Ireland from UK....We will accept delivery of the parcel at the UK Virtual Address and we will contact you regarding the charges for delivery. Charges will be made at DPD Ireland's tariff rate. .

I would say you'll be in for aa pretty big charge by actual and maybe dimension weight if its a very big box...

Parcel Motel do €20 for oversized, and you can either collect from their depot or arrange delivery for an extra fee. I hope these guys aren't gonna charge me more than that (i.e. more than their competition) or I'll be sticking with Parcel Motel.

Thats incorrect about parcel motel only charging €20 for oversized parcels as I posted a few pages back as I got charged €112 for a fireside chair.

If it is oversized they use a volumetric calculation of L x D x W and divided by 3000 which gives you a kg3 figure and for every 10kg3 it I as over 55kg3 they charge €10.

Someone mentioned earlier that DPD divide their volumetric figure by 6000 meaning there prices should be roughly half parcelmotel.

Oh ok - well that's good then. I just remember getting a text saying I was being charged €20 for an oversized parcel, so assumed that was a flat charge.

Why on earth did you order without finding out first? All you had to do was pick up the phone. And would Amazon not deliver to Ireland? They usually do.

You believed Parcel Motel had a service at a price you were happy with but still went with the unknown Parcel Wizard service. Bizarre.

Nobody here seems to know. You're the guinea pig.

    It's similar for me.

I had confirmation from Amazon of delivery to their depot last Friday.
Today, there is still no record of receiving it on the PW site.
And the enquiry I sent yesterday is still unanswered or even acknowledged.

    It's a bad start.
I know they might take some time to find their feet but there's no way I'd trust them over Christmas based on this.....

Ordered from Amazon on Wednesday and had it delivered by Parcel Wizard to my work this morning. Very happy with the service. They kept me well informed along the way. Have just ordered a parcel from eBay for my second free delivery :D

DPD 'lost' my parcel. Whoever was delivering from Yodel just handed it over to some schmuck in Carrickfergus (where DPD confirmed on the phone that there is no depot for Parcel Wizard).

DPD washed there hands of it. No one by the name I gave works there, no parcel arrived with the numbers I gave. They said they can't help any more. That's the bit that annoys me most.

Thank God Amazon are sending me a replacement direct to Ireland. No quibbles or problems. Next day too.

I'll never, ever use DPD again after this.

Surely it's Yodel who have screwed up here, not DPD? How could DPD have lost your parcel if it wasn't delivered to them to begin with?

How is it anything to do with DPD?

Because DPD customer service washed their hands of it when I called asking why a delivery was made to their depot and signed for by person X.

They then claimed person X doesn't exist and that they couldn't find the parcel. Then basically said 'good luck'.

That's why. No need to be smart.

But the DPD depot is in Newtownabbey and Yodel are claiming they delivered it to someone in Carrickfergus? There's really no much DPD customer service can do if the parcel was never delivered to their depot.

But if Yodel are claiming they delivered it to the correct DPD depot in Newtownabbey, that would be a different matter entirely.

No, there is a DPD depot in Carrickfergus too. The DPD employee who took my call asked for all the details so they could see if it was delivered there.

Yodel share the blame, of course, but DPD washed their hands of it there and then, and it's for that reason they can jog on. Never mind Yodel.

EDIT: I should add, I did contact Yodel, who confirmed it was delivered to a commercial DPD address (even if it was Carrickfergus and not Mallusk).
