OneDrive no longer offering unlimited storage

It does seem a bit of a backward step alright. I understand the issue but if you do offer unlimited anything some people will abuse it and as we know from the world of IT it only takes one person to ruin things for everyone. That one guy who decided to load a torrent client onto his laptop downloading all sorts and now sysadmin won't let anyone install anything as a result!

So it got abused, fair enough. Thing is MS are making a big play for office 365, azure and onedrive. It's one of their biggest strengths yet they seem to be doing their best to destroy it. If you were to read the changes sheet and not know anything about 365 and that you'd assume they were winding the service down. Moves like this are very reminiscent of moves companies make when they are shutting a service down. Odd to say the least.

Just found out that M$ is offering users a chance to keep their bonus storage, until the end of 31 January: https://preview.onedrive.com/bonus/. I have 31GB, let's see if they let me keep it ... even though I'm not using even 1/4 GB at the moment ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    Changes to OneDrive
We want to let you know about some upcoming changes to OneDrive. On July 27, 2016, the amount of storage that comes with OneDrive will change from 15 GB to 5 GB. We are also discontinuing the 15 GB camera roll bonus. You can learn more at our FAQ.

There is no action you need to take, because your OneDrive account is currently below the new storage limits. Even though you aren't currently affected, we want to keep you updated on all important changes to OneDrive. If you'd like to check your account, you can visit the Storage page.

We realize these are big changes to a service you rely on. We want to apologize for any inconvenience they may cause you. We made a difficult decision, but it's one that will let us sustainably operate OneDrive into the future.
    Thank you for using OneDrive.

Oh okay, thanks Microsoft, I suppose times are tight and anyway 5 GB is plenty in the year 2016. Ill just go back to ignoring you and keep using Google Drive for everything.
