New Computer for Parents

    Hi All,
    I haven't built a computer in a few years and haven't kept up with any recent developments. So any advice is welcome; Need a computer build for my Parents 60+.


    1. What is your budget? 650

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Internet, Excel, maybe some gaming when grand kids visit.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

    5a. If yes, what size do you need.

    5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1920x1080, No

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Wireless card

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Credit Card/Laser/Paypal

    9. When are you purchasing? ASAP

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? No help needed thx

    My parents thought they wanted a computer. Really they just wanted internet access and to watch things.

    Getting them an Ipad was a revolution here.

    Thanks for the input, but I'm looking for something along the lines of i5, 8gb ram, ssd+hdd. Just wasn't sure about the latest intel chips or if there were any updates in the ssd world.

    I pad.

    Yeah I'd probably get an android pad of some sort. Will no doubt be cheaper, more freedom. Less tied to apple pay.

    You want an i5 for Internet usage and Excel? Why?
