I've been trying to remember what was on tv during 1982 - would anyone be able to help me ?

I remember some of the week and weekend shows - but can't be quite sure if they were on these particular days I remember or actually on in 1982 (may have got mixed up with the years)

Dynasty / Falcon Crest / The Colbys were on RTe 2 on weeknights about 10 p.m.
Today Tonight on RTE1 on weeknights after 9 news
Quincey MD was on RTE 2 a few nights a week
Coronation Street was on Mondays & wednesdays on UTV
Duty Free - a commedy about 2 couples on holiday in spain on UTV
    Hart to Hart
    To The Manor Born BBC
    Minder UTV (?)
    Murder She Wrote
    Fame
Taxi (?) not sure if this was '82

Thursdays - Top Of The Pops on BBC
    Tomorrow's World BBC
    Friday The Live Mike RTE1
Saturday The Late Late show RTE1
    Grandstand BBC1
    Swop Shop BBC 1
3-2-1 (game show - not sure if that was on in 1982 or later)
    Dallas RTE1 & BBC
    Sunday Thats Life BBC 1
    Glenroe RTE1
    Bergerac BBC
Harry's game : mini series was on sometime in the autumn of 82 *(with the Clannad song that got to number 1 in the charts).

Would be pleased if anyone can remember any other 1982 shows I've forgotten

http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/570a01ac7cf343a1abee5975ed84340c (and other weeks) will give you BBC and 2.

There's no equivalent for the TV Times at the time - for ITV and from this week in 1982, C4 - and back then you had to buy both. RTE have no equivalent online either, however someone on here probably has a copy or two.

Glenroe started in 1983. Bracken would have been on in 1982

    The Two Ronnies.

Weekend World. Anyone remember that? Great theme tune.

    John Craven's Newsround

    The Sullivans

3-2-1 was on in 1982. I'd say it was on UTV as it was produced by Yorkshire TV. Pretty much all episodes are up on YouTube. I watched a few of them recently.

RTE was broadcasting Coronation Street 5 nights a week back then......they acquired the rights the previous year and were showing back episodes on a 5 night a week basis until around October/November 1982 when they finally "caught-up" with the current story-line that was being broadcast by UTV. They held onto this until TV3 acquired the rights and they then switched to showing Eastenders.

Channel 4 launched in late '82 so that was our first exposure to Countdown and Carol Vorderman......

Watched a few as I recently met 3-2-1 hostess/Bond girl/B-movie legend Caroline Munro at the IFI Horrorthon.
Some really odd guests like dwarf cabaret double act the Minitones alias Jack "Ewok" Purvis and Kenny "R2-D2" Baker, both Time Bandits, on stage doing impressions of Laurel and Hardy.
And you'll often have some has-been/never-were promoting a panto or a touring musical or some stage revue in some provincial town...

Quicksilver (if memory serves correctly the questions started at a half-penny each!)
    Murphy's Micro Quiz-M

They may be later, but I think they were circa 1982. I was born in 1972 and remember having at first 1, then 2 channels....yes, it was that bad.

Every summer we went to the Aran Islands where my uncle had brought back from the US and self-installed some sort of early satellite system on a family holiday home we had there and we could get various US and some weird Euro channels. People don't believe me on this but it's true! A couple of summers later I remember watching some of the '84 Olympics and the NBA Finals on whatever US channel was broadcasting them at the time. it's mad Ted, two channels for most of the country (outside Dublin) and then satellite TV in the Aran Islands.......kerazy.

There was home receive satellite TV from 1980 or so (see Broadcasting History forum: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056949624) and being further west did actually help

I've always massively doubted the cited age for the lead singer from The Script as he talks about only getting MTV at night which was a common thing on these satellite setups way, way before he was apparently old enough.

It was a re-run though from the 70's- but yer right, great series.

Anyone mention Salvage 1? While again a 1970's series, it showed on RTE 2 in the early 80s?

What was the saturday morning (i.e. young persons) show on RTE 1?

Anybody here recall a U.S tv programme / series called 'The Bearcats'?
It was about two guys who drove around in a white classic car (called a 'bear cat'?) and got into trouble / solved problems for people...I think it was on c.1982.

    Also on in '82?

    - 'The Irish RM'
    - 'Simon & Simon'
    - 'Fraggle Rock'
    - 'The Muppet Show'
    - 'Tom & Jerry'
    - 'Road Runner'
    - 'Wanderly Wagon'
    - 'The Fall Guy'

Always liked 'Hart to Hart' and 'CHiPs' ('California Highway Patrol' for the uninitiated) ! :D

Not sure if anybody said Fame; my sister was mad about that. 'Allo 'Allo, my da loved that, TJ Hooker, he was bloody awful but I remember fancying the cacks off of Heather Locklear.

    A bit of Heather.
