    http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
    download codec pack for windows

    Standard

    Same as Basic, plus:

Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC)
MadVR (an advanced and high quality video renderer)
    MediaInfo Lite
This is the recommended variant for the average user.

    Download Standard

i have windows 7 vlc works fine for me.
Try playing file with windows media player.

Vlc's main purpose initially was that you didn't require additional codecs.

Windows 7 always had the codecs for dvd playback as part of the install
    package,
this may not be true for all versions of windows 10,
dvds use their own special video file format.

    Codecs for vlc?

My thoughts too. I've never needed any additional codec for vlc.
