Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking for headphones with good noise isolation

I'm looking to buy a good pair of headphones that can provide good sound and decent isolation from external noise. For example, I would like to be able to listen to some music while on an airplane, without having to set the volume to 300%, or even just to dampen the noise a bit.

I already tried some noise cancelling headphones, and I don't like them particularly, I would rather stick to passive ones, even if the noise isolation is lower. If possible, I would prefer something available in store, so that I can try them on.

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions. :)

Any good brand should encapsulate your ear and block out exterior noise. It also depends on how deep you're pockets are which will steer your tonal experience.
Try the classics : Sennhizer ; B & W ; Sony ; Grado etc. Most do a good 'phone in the 200/400 range

Edit : I can't stand noise suppression / cancellation 'phones just gives me a earache - they can actually make some people nauseous

Thanks akaSol. Would you happen to know if there is a shop in Dublin with a good choice of headphones? There are dozens of models available, I would like to try them on before buying a pair. Thanks.

Look at : Listening Suit ; Tower Records ( some limited choices ) ; Cloney Audio and the Hifi Hut. But that's from memory, there may be other's.

I use earbuds, the ones that go right into your canal, find they block out a lot.

Never tried them on a plane though

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't like to have things stuck in the ears, that's why I was looking for headphones. :)
