Aswell as adding new events etc some of the coaches need changing. We've had the same ones for 5-6 years running.

Initially there was change, Eddie O'Sullivan, Jason Sherlock, a former female hockey player. There's only so much of Davy Fitz squeaking 'I need you there for another 10 seconds, stay with me' you can take. Or Anna Geary and her squaking and her massive gluteus maximus. It's all gone stale.

The worst part is the "coaches". The forced rivalries as if what they do matters.

Donnacha saying things like "I'm up against it now" as if he has any impact on how well the family does.

The leggins must be welded onto Geary as she never wears anything else. The big chunky legs are offputting.

Derval is very vanilla and boring but the least annoying of the lot.

Davy busting blood vessels shouting while looking at his smartphone with his tactics from the 1990's...."I'm gonna count down from ten. TE......DON'T LET GO. LOOK AT ME....TEN.....JUST 9 MORE SECONDS. JUST 9 MORE. KAMAN. 9....." Do you think Klopp or Pep Guardiola is roaring at the players KAMAAAAAN on the training pitch each day?

yeah thats basically what I was thinking last night with the backs up against the wall task They had it in last years show and given the huge times posted in this years show it looks obvious they have been training at home for it in advance.

The first half an hour last night really was a snoozefest watching 4 different families with their backs against the wall. They need to switch it up with some new challenges. I suppose they tried that with the bicycle up in the trees but that was a bit of a wtf is this moment.

lol Davys squawking does get old pretty fast 😂 As the owner of the format he wont be going anywhere though. AFAIK Derval and Anna are Instagram influencers these days so they wont want to lose the exposure either, they need to be "As Seen on TV' to help keep the side business going. I'd bet we're stuck will all of them for years to come yet

Backs to the wall is the one event where if you don't get set perfectly then you're fecked.

If you get into the proper position you can last ages, otherwise there'll be too much pressure on your thighs.

Nothing wrong with that. The step on beam was stupid.

Absolutely, the girl slipping after a few seconds in the rain showed how poorly thought out it was

    Brilliant from Sinead Grennan.

    The state of the weather!!!

And it was a good summer and autumn. Must be filmed during the few wet weeks in August.

    Sun back out again!

It'd be a total nightmare trying to do hanging rough in the wet....

That "falling first" fella is a big lad.... and they tend to fall first.....

My brother and his children set up a hanging tough bar on the farm. The children are flying. My max is 1min 45sec🙈

    But I'm a big 16st build.

Must be the width of the bar, wind, slippiness as short times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,797 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    That's about 1 min 43 longer than I'd last!! 🤣

    Cant see Bissets doing well.

Big heavy MMA types cant hold themselves up normally.

A fella in work said to me last week that Davy was the type of lad everyone would want to give a slap to in a club hurling match😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭Láidir agus Dílis

They were surprisingly poor given their build. I thought the same.

It's a lot easier hold up 10st than 15st over a few min.

Does Niall McIntyre have a Garda tag on his leg?

Older, light, wiry, hardy man. They nearly always do the best.

Camera, I presume. To get the footage of the fall into the water.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭Láidir agus Dílis

Two bawling gobshites, Geary and Fitzgerald.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,370 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Completely hopeless at the cargo net by the Bissets.

    Awful strategy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,370 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Why did Anna leave the heaviest lad by himself at the bottom?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,797 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Bad strategy leaving the biggest man to haul up on to the wall....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,765 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Poor tactics from the O'Brien's on the wall! That guy was big no way we're those two gonna haul him up easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭recyclops

Anna should of just left the Bisset girl go to the end then call it back.

They are a bunch of individuals be surprised if they go to win it.

The absolute horse manure that comes out of Geary and Davy.

Davy: "they're in an eliminator..it's no harm, it's what they need"

Geary then ahead of Hanging Tough the camera shows her throwing out her arms as if she's going doing it herself. Where the hell was she when the two small girls were trying to pull up a big heavy lad? Why didn't she tell one of the girls to get down and give the fella a leg up. It was obvious!

The Bissets are too cocky, especially that Courtney. She was all cocky doing the back against the wall in the first round and today saying how they strength train 3 times a day 7 days a week. Yeah sure...

Davy was on the Today Show yesterday.

Funny because he was saying on it that his managerial method 10 years ago wouldn't cut it today. Roaring and shouting at players doesn't cut it today either.

Davy burns his team out quickly.

Another interesting thing is he said it takes a lot of time to be a county manager. He said 50-60 hours a week. And we're led to believe they're unpaid or just expenses?

But sure if they had the same events in the same order, it would be equally unfair - the same types/physiques would get through all the time, and where does that leave all the other combinations of skills/physiques?

I presume it's random which round you wind up in, and who you wind up against in the early stages - what other way could they organise it?
