    HI

I'm about to embark on the christmas shopping for the OH and I would like a bit of advice from the experts.
I want to buy him a decent tablet, not an Ipad, It needs to be able to run a power point and have to usual apps.. I know nothing about technology so I'm relying on you guys!
price range between E250-E350 and where to buy!

    thanks in advance ;)

The Galaxy Tab S has just been replaced with a newer model so it's had a price drop, but it's still a very capable tablet and within your budget. It was rated highly by TechRadar as recently as last month and as it's Android he'll be able to find any app he's looking for on it.

Thanks a million, I looked at that one in Harvey Norman and I'm very tempted, Its good to get an unbiased point of view.
For an extra E20 they'll set it all up and make sure everything is working for Christmas morning.. is that worth it or is half the fun letting him set it up himself.. ? I don't know if I could listen to the cursing if it goes wrong :D

Let him set it up. Everyone likes things set up in their own way.

If he wants a tablet then I think you will get far more bang for your buck with an Android for that budget.

The Nexus 9 or Samsung Tab S are both around 8-9" and would be around your budget. Both are high end, with access to tens of thousands of apps and will last for a long time.

    Only windows tablets run powerpoint,
get at least a 9-10 inch screen.
IF you go for android , get one that has a sdcard slot

    https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/faq/
Its handy for playing video or music files ,or especially when the tablet s,
    storage space is full.
Most samsung tablets have an sdcard slot .

Absolutely incorrect, please don't muddy the thread with misleading statements.

It's unlikely OP will find a decent 9-10 inch tablet in her price range, the cheaper ones you get in Harvey Norman tend to be utter muck.

Probably the closest thing to good advice you've offered.

All samsung tablet,s are all good, so spend what you can afford ,
i bought brand x tablet ,not samsung.
Its a good tablet ,but battery life is only 5 hours .
A lot of tablet storage space will be used for apps, for a sdcard slot is vital for music, video,or picture storage .http://www.harveynorman.ie/computing/tablets/?gclid=CPGEpeyOlckCFYJ82wodpDADFA&subcats=Y&features_hash=V26

that seems like a good price for a samsung tablet 8inch

    or http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/3142738/Trail/searchtext%3ETABLET.htm

    9.6inch screen 209 euro,s .

All samsung tablets are not good, and some Samsung tablets being sold in the likes of Harvey Norman are older models with out of date software and operating systems. With the Tab E you're paying a premium for the screen size, the processor etc suffer as a result, and with 8GB internal storage you'll quickly find it getting sluggish (even with a microSD). The Tab S is still listed as one of the best tablets available today (even in the PCAdvisor article you linked) so I'm confident it's OP's best bet in the price bracket suggested.
