Seems to have quietened down in Waterford.

For poster in Meath, winds across that county will increase rapidly but peak gusts will range from 130 km/hr in south to 110 km/hr in north, as there is quite a sharp cutoff in peak wind intensity in the wake of the low.

Dublin could see peak gusts to 140 km/hr as the strong gradient sets up over the Irish Sea and accelerates the already strong flow, with the usual local variations due to exposure to incoming strong winds from WNW direction.

I would expect the peak gusts to be at the 7 p.m. rather than 6 p.m. obs and staying very strong at 8 p.m. then easing slowly.

Wind picked markedly in the last two hours here in East Anglia. Nearest weather station in Norwich is saying gusts to 40mph. Met Office predicting up to 70mph. Could be a few trees down overnight.

See on powercheck.ie that power is really starting to go fast in the east.

Met Eireann on Radio 1 there, highest mean speeds at Shannon airport over 90 kilometers per hour. Severe gusts been recorded in Kilkenny and Dublin in the past hour. about a 30 second forecast and very rushed, more detail was definately needed on that forecast.

Storm Barney on the 6 1 news in about 10 minutes

Power out in Naas my station offline now. It is very bad out there! Trees down everywhere

10 min wind speed up to 55.9 km/h here which may not seem like that much compared to other reports but it is usually relatively calm here and this is the highest average wind speed recorded since the station was set up in 2006. Gusting to 90.1 km/h

I wonder is EIDW a little too far north to register the strong gusts affecting the capital. Maybe Casement will be a better measure.

Thought the same, the forecaster implied the worst was over. Anyone listening in the east who isn't clued into the weather will get a shock this evening! Better forecasts and advice from AA.

No electricity here, was out doing work, last recorded wind gust was 80kmh before the power went, ESB say should have it back by 7.15pm.
During storm Darwin got it back in an hour, some neighbours on a different line were waiting three days.

Worst storm since Darwin, but still not close to how bad that was.

There was no official name for the Great Storm of 2014, official names have only been authorised this year.

Really bad gusts here in Kilkenny, branches and trees down, my trampoline got airborne and is in a heap at the end of the garden. Anything that wasn't nailed down has been blown around. Went to collect kid from school earlier, and car was rocking terribly even in a closed in yard. Scary stuff.

The storm of 2014 was officially called Darwin at the time, I think (but not sure) by the German Met Office, who have been naming storms for a number of years.

Highest gust at 18.00 61 knots at Oak Park Carlow. Three stations recorded gusts in the 50's and rest 40's below. Seems to have lost intensity from previous reports

    Mobile network down (meteor).

Anyone else have the same problem?

Wind almost completely gone here in west clare, very very stormy all day, power went due to a local fault so I wasn't able to post a detailed update from my phone. The winds today were very damaging and comparable to the wind recorded 2 years ago in the storm we had on a Wednesday.

    Barney hates you
    He hates me
    Took my power
    and broke my PC

My old desktop that I use won't start since Barney took the power when in use. Power back about 5 minutes.
It is 8 years old but still...

    Winds are dying down.

Oak Park Carlow saw a gust of 125kmh between 4pm and 5pm which matches what the station recorded during Storm Darwin in February 2014, my station saw a top gust of 92.6kmh at 4:53pm which is below the 109km/h I recorded during Storm Darwin.

Avoided the worst of it in Waterford, didn't even get a gust over 45 knots.

Went out with my anemometer to the local park a few minutes ago. Gust: 27knots; Avg: 15knots. East Anglia (Inland). I am guessing peak in the next two to three hours here?

Max 56 knots Dublin airport now.

Kilcullen is as quiet as it never happened now.

Only the roof (well, part of it), and a lack of mobile signal reminds me of what has happened this evening.

    Could be worse I guess...

Evelyn Cusack on just now showing were the strongest of the winds were. Eerily similar to Darwin back in Feb 2014 with Mace Hd, Shannon & Oak Park standing out during both storms

Cycled home from Dun Laoghaire to Shankill between 4 and 4.30 via the top of Killiney Hill and Vico Road.
    The sea was a mess.
Very happy to have gotten home before the worst of it.
