Surely now with the DD they can just finally give a plastic 5 year licence to riders who will not be participating in UCI events!!!!
They would not be getting a 5 year membership though. My understanding is the payment is taken annually and anyone who wishes to cease their membership can back-out at any year-end

It looks as if this measure is largely to deal with the large numbers who join up for a single year without renewing - enticing them into the DD which many will probably forget about and retain membership for the full 5 years

Any "licence" they do get could not be a "proper" UCI one anyway, as they run to 31 December each year and this will be a rolling membership. There's no need to issue them with any licence as such - a membership certificate should do. I know you've mentioned in the past doing away with the plastic cards for all but those who need it for racing overseas. Maybe this will result in a first step towards that.

Would there be any point in suggesting at the next AGM having 5 year memberships? They do that for my Audax UK membership and it is great not to have to think about it again.

Could be marketed as a benefit that you avoid membership increases for 5 years if you pay up front or just have the option for DD with a clause that they agree to any increases for the 5 years.

Renewed and got emailed a pdf of my new license without much bother.

Only issue with the website was that it would not let me take out a LC license. I tried 2 different computers and my phone and every time I chose LC, when I went to checkout it had selected A4 for me. I eventually gave in and took out a full license so when you see a poor lad out the back after 2km next year you know why!

I got a LC ok, but an email without a pdf saying there was a pdf of a license.

You can download the pdf of the licence (signed by the former President!) from within the CI Portal. Just click on "My Licence" and you should then see a green download button

I did that alright, it's just the text and non-attachement in the email is odd.

Could anyone shed any light on why when I renewed my licence in my 'Race Rankings' page of the portal it states "Renewing Affiliation : Older Than 45 - Zeroing Points" and all the points I earned in A4 have been removed. I am staying in A4 so can't see any relevant rule that would remove my points because of my age. I have sent a query to CI about it.

Edit. CI have already responded and rectified the issue, all points returned. Have to give them credit for the prompt response.

Is anyone else getting numerous e-mails from CI today. 1st said I had paid and gave me my licence. An hour later I got two from Azolve, one telling me licence was ready for renewal and the second that I was approved and ready for payment.

I don't even recall making the payment although I did go as far as to register for a 2016 licence but was holding off till Jan to pay.

Same for me - I was also leaving my licence payment until Jan. Received a PDF of my licence today confirming payment even though I didn't, have since received registration and club approval mails.

ETA: removed my comment about system issues as this appears to be related to human error and not system. Back to awaiting payment status now.

I wonder which way are you paying for your licence? By card or DD? Cheaper by the latter but does it make sense? Thanks!

Makes sense if you want to save money. Of course it does mean you need too actually do something if you want to cancel for a future year.

As a matter of interest on the DD, is it a one off 125 or do they take out 10euro per month?

I just signed up but at no point did it make the frequency of payment clear, so I presume its a once off.

Need to confirm this but my understanding is the DD facility was partly to retain "casual" members by automatically debiting their account each year unless the DD is revoked. If you are paying for a racing licence this way I'm pretty sure it will all be taken up front. Otherwise you could stop your DD part way through the year but try and keep hold of and possibly use an invalid licence.

Its a once-off. I assumed it would be a monthly thing myself but wondered how they would prevent fraud by people cancelling. I cant remember exactly how long between signing up and getting charged it was but roughly 3-4 weeks.

And did you license come through straight away? I haven't gotten a number or anything yet but I presume I am now all sorted, or is it a case I am not a member until the DD is taken?

I registered on 25th November and got an email with a pdf of my id card on 4th December. It wasn't for a racing licence so I wasn't affected as far as needing it urgently. I think I got some sort of confirmation from the payment crowd straight away but I don't see it in my email.

Getting p1ss3d off of obtaining a leisure licence for this year! Trying to sign up for DD but computer says no: your account details could not be verified. How to get around this?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 25,515 Mod ✭✭✭✭CramCycle

I did get my license a few weeks later, its not until the DD came out that it was approved, then it came 5 days later by email.

@padyjoe could you email the crowd who are in charge of the DD service and ask what the issue is?

Yes arrived last week when did you apply for your licence?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭Marq-dublin

Mid December, payment taken 11th Jan

Mine and 1 of the kid's licence packs arrived last week, the other kid's has yet to turn up. They were all applied for on the day they started accepting applications.

It's only if you need them for racing overseas that anyone should worry about it at this stage. They will accept the PDF version/e-mail confirmation when racing does get underway.

I got mine just after posting this. I remember they were released in batches in previous years and presume the same again, whats your number?

    license number is 16LM04492

I just checked the status on the CI license portal. It says the 'Printing Date' was Feb 5th, but nothing is listed next to 'Posted Date'. So I guess its as you suggest, that they'll send a batch out at the same time.

Im going to sign up for a licence myself this year, will be my first one! Just a quick question if anyone knows…

Once I’ve signed up online and paid am I good to go regarding entering events etc? – i.e. will I have a printout/confirmation or something I can use while waiting on the hard copy to arrive?

    Thanks

No sign of it as off 1.30pm today.

I printed off a copy of my licence from the e-mail CI sent me.If I was to turn-up at the Traders Cup on Sunday to sign on,but no numbers for my jersey is there spare numbers available to pin on??

    They should have

Anyone not having their card and numbers yet - I would suggest dropping CI an e-mail with licence details from the CI portal - they can (and in my experience do) deal with e-mail enquiries far more efficiently than trying to do stuff over the phone
