Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just to clarify, My order was submitted on Sunday and anyone who has ordered with me has already paid me in full, I do not have any spares on my order and I will not be putting in any more orders at this present time. Any talks of new orders have nothing to do with myself. Sorry for any confusion caused.

Are you going off the list last night Padair ? I'd my name down on that so not sure if you've me included.

When you planning on putting in the order ?

Now one more question in general. I had sky multi room in the kitchen at home and all the wiring is in place still. If I hook up the Wetek satalite tuner to the sky cabling will that give me the non subscription channels ? Can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

Nah not going off the list as I still need to get all of the contact details. Prett much first 12 or more and I will order.

I ordered 1 on sunday , ...... missed the boat through here due to my own dithering .... then ordered the wrong one, changed the order, and it arrived at my door 20 minutes ago. So mine was likely lumped in with all of yours :)

we should get a tips thread going asap.

    Already have a couple.

when plugging it in out of the box, would not power on when I plugged it into the 2 to 3 pin adaptor I had, worked when I used the supplied one and then into the 2 to 3 pin I had. Idiot I am didnt notice the adaptor that came with it, it was loose in the dhl bag not in the box

Wireless networking is disabled at the start and took me a while to find it. From the main screen, scroll at the way right then choose openelec it's in there , enable it first and then set up wpa/wep keys.

It supports a usb keyboard and mouse so had for typing in things during set up.

I'm sure I'll have more later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 593 ✭✭✭DERICKOO

Which type of keyboards mouse will this successfully pair with.

Once that is done. the list is closed and I will fire a mail around to people to collect money of them via paypal. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have the money off everyone and I can then order the devices.

Padair, is this the best box for Kodi? And also if I order the terrestrial tuner can I pick up a sattlite tuner alone later on if I put it into another room?

  • Registered Users Posts: 208 ✭✭ecomac

Will do. I wouldn't close the list though. If we order more than 12 pcs we could renegotiate the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 817 ✭✭✭ronanc1000

I am interested. That's 13, not ready until 9:30 to send details on as i am away, hope thats cool of not its grand.

I can't speak for everybody, but I think the more is on the list the better. We could wait until end of the day. Lads - this is very last chance to get this box for a really fair price, so make up your minds now.

I'll take one if still possible? Been following this thread closely, think it's time to bite the bullet just go for it 😀

    Pm sent Padair

If we couldn't get a better price at 36+ of us, I'd say your chances are pretty small.

I have the DVB-S version of this box, and have added a USB tuner for Saorview. It does work. However, it's a bit glitchy on HD channels at times, which I think is possibly a software bug, as I've read a few bits about HD DVB-T channels causing problems over on the Wetek forums.

I'm scrambling here to catch up buy could someone please tell me if the following assumptions are correct...

    1) It's a KODI Android box
    2) You can use as a replacement for a dreambox sky player
    3) It streams like a chromecast.

Anyone know I'd this would be worth getting for the Kodi aspect alone?

For just kodi its not worth the extra. An MXIII box would be a better bet.

Pretty much everything the Wetek box can do is covered in this thread.
It starts in January 2015 so has come along way in the past 12 months.
Remember that when you read of any bugs or issues.

Loads of videos in the thread too.

    is this the spec?

    https://wetek.com/product/wetek-play
RAM Memory: 1GB DDR III -> small?
Flash memory: 4GB NAND -> small?
Wireless LAN: 802.11 B/G/N -> no wifi ac?
Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 -> not even 4.4, how long will apps support 4.2.2?
Ethernet: 10/100 Mbit -> yeah okay not 1,000Mbits but fine
USB 2.0: 5x (3 external, 2 internal) -> no USB 3.0 but probably not needed

for this price though, it is very tempting!:)

Yeah it is, but I was just showing the correct box. In case anyone thought it came with Android, they may get an initial fright when they turn it on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 569 ✭✭✭spongerobinson

Ah right, good point. I haven't actually tried Android on mine, have just stuck with the OE image. Quite happy with it, especially for the price. Have TvHeadend set up, with 3 tuners, videos streaming no problem over ethernet from NAS, and also connecting to it for TvHeadend from a couple of other boxes in the house. It is a little sluggish at times, and isn't totally bug free, but really can't fault it for the price.

Ok this is going to make me sound like a complete idiot, but posting this to save others from themselves.

I was following the guides to set up TvHeadend and was clear as day up to the point where it actually configures it the videos show it backing out of the setting scrolling over to video and this web interface appearing magically . No indication that this needs to be done from your PC @ http://IPHERE:9981  In fact in all the videos it looks like thats how you access it , from the video section on the main screen

Had I actually thought about it for a second I might have copped on a lot sooner :o

Lads, any comments on the fire TV box seeing as its down to 65 pounds.
Seems to be decent specs. How would it fare compared to other boxes at a similar price.
