Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've updated the spreadsheet, dvb s2 for me and PayPal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,301 ✭✭✭✭jm08

Tried to add my name to the list but it went a bit weird. Hope I haven't messed it up!

Can someone please add me for one. I can pay with Paypal.

    Thanks.

guys - is the enigma build stable? the forum members are still working on it and has the usual alpha release issues. switching from kodi to enigma is still not smooth as per my reading.

  • Registered Users Posts: 262 ✭✭Bartyman

I've added my name to the sheet - DVB-S2 for me too please. And definitely prefer PayPal.

    Thanks for starting this.

    Great ideal Allyall!! well done.

Is there a list of channels we could expect to receive here with the satellite option and is there an ongoing sub payable to view?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭GY A1

This is s satellite and android receiver.
That has many options. There's no sub or anything like that.
Up to you what software u put on it or if u want it for saorview or satellite

  • Registered Users Posts: 52 ✭✭wallaby72

Added myself to the spreadsheet. Looking for the DVB-S2 option and pay with PayPal. Thanks

Grand job, would like saorview and sat if that would work? Also what channels are available?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Can people read the thread before posting.

You can't get saorview and satellite without extras. This order will have no extras involved. That's up to yourself to sort out.

If you don't know what the box is, don't put your name down.

The order is massive now, and we still have no idea if they'll sell it to us or how to delivery it.

Asi said, if you don't know what it is, don't buy it!

Either one or the other, unless you buy a USB tuner for saorview later.

Born knowing everything yourself and never had to ask were you? Fair enough the information may be buried somewhere in the thread but I didn't imagine asking for confirmation before adding myself would cause anyone any great distress.

And as far as buying something, none of your business what anyone else buys pal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Clogging the thread up with crap is what the problem is.

This isn't plug and play out of the box, it requires knowing what to do with it. That's why it's not for everyone.

If it suits you, pop your name onto the list.

No need to get offensive, trying to be informative.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭iPhone.

Excuse me? clogging up the thread with crap?

Some people on boards here seem to think they have the right to appoint themselves self moderators over what others should or shouldn't do, ask or even buy.

Being informative is what I hoped for when I asked the question, not being given a lecture on reading and buying habits.

Anyway, thread is going off topic, apologies to everyone. Silly carry on by the two of us really RossieMan in all honesty, lets both leave it there.

    No offence meant ok.

    Alright.

Cut off time for ordering is going to be 1pm. Anyone not on the list by then, too bad.

Demand has been a bit higher than we had anticipated I'd imagine. Could be a fun order to sort out.

I added my name anyway, I hope it all works out!

Actually, i wont be buying this now so i can be removed from the list

I was lucky enough to snag the shield tv 500gb misprice from Amazon during the night which now seems will be honoured. Its a much better device so no need for the wetek. The spec for the wetek is quite low so i expect a level of sluggishness when using the device but no such issues with the shield.

Also have to agree with some of the posts above. These things are going to be very complicated to use especially when loading inages and utilising dvb functions. If you don't know how to do these things or do not have experience with kodi then you probably shouldn't be buying one. These are not magical working out of the box systems, they require advanced user configuration.

This thread is going to get awful messy if people are buying the box and have no idea how to use it. Caveat Emptor! It will not be the responsibility of others managing orders to handhold inexperienced users through the setup.

I think zarqoun has said what I was trying to say much better.

If you need it explained to you what this box is for, please, don't put your name down.

No one is responsible for it, no matter which one of us puts the order in.

€167 including shipping. Thats for the 500gb model including remote and controller. Amazon de accidently priced the 500gb model with 16gb price but tge 16gb is still available at this price. Spec is miles better than the underpowered wetek. Tbh €54 is about the right price for the wetek anyway ignoring sales as the spec is rubbish. For anyone that does not want a dvb tuner then there are better spec boxes than the wetek available for cheaper.

People get caught up in a supposed bargain frenzy even if the deal really isn't a bargain. Reminds me of the post i read declaring what a great bargain the pebble was followed by a question by the same poster asking what exactly the pebble was!!!

OK, we get it. You think the wetek is rubbish. You've said it enough.

In contrast, for 53€, I know this is a bargain. It'll have plenty of ongoing support, you can add a sat/terr tuner which is a huge plus IMO, and despite you're scare-mongering, you do not need a degree in engineering to operate these; there is plethora of youtube tutorials for any concerned folks plus for those of us who like tinkering, there will be plenty of ROMs available, allowing you to personalize it.

And you're comparing it to something that costs over 300% more is pretty ridiculous.

In addition, i'd be very keen for your recommendations on the 'better spec'd boxes for less money' ????

I've not looked at the sat tuners, I want one for sure, but think it might be too messy to add them in to this order.

How the hell are we going to work this? Send Paypal all to one person? They pay it on? I wonder would wetek allow us to each send to them, put boards or something in the title? That way it'd be much easier.

I'll look at the Google doc now.

That would be handy for us, if they're willing to do it.
We still have delivery to sort after, looked at courier option earlier but too expensive, so as you said, I think, Parcel Motel @ €4.50 could be best?

Rossie, its dead handy to order the stuff, once you've over 12, you're sorted. Just apply the code on the checkout page.

Techrader say the shield is only a mediocre android box and an excellent gaming system.

    27 with Satelite Tuners - €1457.73

    2 with DVB-T\C - €107.98

    3 Blank - €161.97

Split the orders up into 2 x 16?

If there are a large group from Dublin/Cork/Galway etc.?

Somehow collect the order addresses and go from there. If Parcel Motel is needed or - 3 free parcel Wizard deliveries before Christmas ;)

Parcel Wizard may like the advertising this could give them, as everyone could sign up to it anyway and get it free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭GY A1

yes rather than 1 person having to send them all out for delivery,
would be better to split the order
might hit 36, 3 orders lol
    (im galway)

if not stick me down for one with a S2 tuner. can pay by paypal.

Probably a good idea to put the location of the buyers on the shared sheet, just to see the logistic spread ?

Who's controlling the sheet at the moment, is it you Ally?

I will ring paypal after lunch (15 minutes) and ask them if it's possible to set up a temporary account for this thread.

Everyone that pays address will be in their paypal or paypal payment.

If possible forward that to DPD Parcel Wizard, or if anyone has a better idea?

Its not hard to use for sure, but there are technophobes that will struggle, plenty of examples on the android forum of people frustrated and uncertain about configuration. A couple of examples in this thread too of people not understanding what these boxes do and how they do it. This box is only worth it if one requires a dvb tuner too. Thats why resellers do well with boxes like these as many people like preconfigured, plug and play systems and thats the value add of a reseller.

    dodzy wrote:

Agreed, but the comparison was for me alone not a generalisation. The shield suits my needs better due to gaming functionality and is future proof due to its impressive specs. For me it was a no brainer to spend the extra 100 but for others it would be a waste. The wetek is widely reviewed as underpowered and user experience on fora supports this position. I have a lot of high bitrate 1080p with dts and kodi can be sluggish on this box with such media.
    dodzy wrote:

Better specs albeit without dvb tuner. If you need a cheap box with dvb then get this but expect some sluggishness. If you need just a kodi box then check out aliexpress which has better spec boxes for the same price and even cheaper. There's a great thread in the android forum.

Tbh i would personally wait for a newer revision of the wetek. A slow dual core system with 1gb ram will have its limitations. The box was never worth 90 to begin with. I think 54 is a fair enough price with the tuner but forcing a bulk purchase to obtain this price is ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Okay, Guy in Paypal said that the best thing to would be to send all the payments as "Personal" - So it would be held for our security, and then from there pay Wetek/Openelec.tv

So, does anyone want to look after this?

Whatever the 2 groups split into now, or setup a paypal account or use their existing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭CyaL8r

If ye r looking to fill a third group (i.e. get to 36) then put me down for a DVB-S2 and pay with PayPal. IF I have missed the boat though that is no bother either. Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Locked down the Spreadsheet, someone changed the amount each person wanted to 1.

Only 3 added I think since the last post, so it should be only 3 extra DVB-S2.
One more will split into 3 groups.

    GY A1 - 3 or 4
    Allyall - 2
    Ush - 2

Who else wants more than 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Anyone handy with money? I'd personally prefer to not have to handle such a large operation, with work I only get home at 7 so taking delivery could prove quite tricky.

If there's no other option I'll see what I can do.

It would mean that they (DPD) would have to break down the bulk packaging and then repackage I guess. More work in it for them. I'm waiting for Wetek to get back. If they were to give us a unique code for 53.99 (with us guaranteeing 30+ purchases ), that would be the ideal as everybody pays individually. Only downside for them is the transport, but we will see. Best option I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

There is someone on the list that asked for 2, but is down as 1.
    I think it's ks44 or delboy76, because I think it was someone that wanted a DVB-T

Unfortunately I hadn't screen captured it before they were all changed to 1.

    Ahh - Revision history :)

    35 Boxes on spreadsheet.
