Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Sky reporting it. Security alert.

It's on www.kicker.de so I'd say its true.

Probably a false alarm or someone taking the plss but they can't take any risks.

BBC reporting it on their sports website.

    BBC
Germany's friendly with the Netherlands on Tuesday has been called off, report Hannover Police.
The Hannover Stadium, hosting the match, started to be evacuated less then two hours before kick-off.

Tedious, some wanker with nothing better to do.

Hopefully that's all it is, and hopefully he's found and brought to a Paris hospital to see how humorous it all is.

Well I'm assuming its a threat made on twatter or other anti-social media rather than anything that could be verified.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,673 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

Going to be like this for a while, I'm afraid. Any implied threat will likely cause games to postponed or abandoned.

Tedious, some wanker with nothing better to do.

you will probably see some local disgruntled people with some worthless agenda will be at fault here as opposed to an organised approach as happened on Friday.

Different sources saying that a suspicious person was outside the stadium and another saying a suspicious package was found inside the stadium. Angela Merkel was meant to attend.

Tedious, some wanker with nothing better to do.

If true, they're going to get some kick up the hole from the German justice system. It won't be the slap on the wrist that you'd get here.

Hoping it was just a threat. Have to feel for the German team after what happened Friday and then this.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I assume the German security service have some solid intel on any threat?

Would a game be called off just for a random telephoned bomb threat?

*edit.... just seeing now, suspect device found.

Truck bomb reported on off the ball :(

Credible threat was what I read earlier and it seems a lot of these headcases are coming from or heading to Belgium.

The most important thing to remember is that this has nothing to do with religion.

An ambulance parked at a high profile game and no one checking anything or having a secure zone around the stadium? Are they all asleep?

It has everything to do with religion but this really isn't the place for such a discussion. This is definitely more about the what than the why.

So scary that this spate of incidents is happening, is this the beginning of the future or can this be dealt with effectively?

Well you'd imagine them checking it was how it was found. Obviously, we're not privy to what happened and how.

You know this thread exists because they found it, right?

Ah you know what I mean, I doubt anything was allowed inside the boundary of the Wembley Stadium complex since yesterday.

Clearly not, because they found it...

Edit: Fair enough, but I think they did alright, considering they still appeared to have saved many people's lives.

    Sarcasm. :)

The whole ambulance thing seems to be in contention, but it seems there was definitely something that was planned to go off inside the stadium

Jesus this will be a game changer for the Euros or sport across Europe. What a bunch of c##ts!

Whatever about Friday, this definitely is the nail in the coffin for going to the euros. Things only gonna get worse it would appear. :(

There's no confirmation of *anything* - just lots of people on twitter retweeting a single dodgy source

Sadly this is the future I suspect.

Being a terrorist (as long as your not afraid of being caught) is piss easy.I'm amazed there haven't been more terrorist threats over the last 10 years or so.

German officials were saying everything would be done to secure the stadium. They had over 72 hours to prepare for this. Police with machine guns all around the stadium, all on high alert, and now one hour before the game they have to cancel it.

This is one game, a matter of days after the Paris attacks. How the hell are they going to secure every stadium every weekend in Germany, France and the UK, let alone prepare for the Euros.

Makes you think twice doesn't it. I travel across to England regularly, going over this weekend and it makes me think twice. I'll still go but I'll be more alert when I am at the stadium or in the pubs near it.

The sport isn't under attack just the people who attend.Sporting events of any kind are probably the largest gathering of individuals that take place across Europe and therefore provide maximum possible death toll.Large gatherings of any kind are at risk.

He's said there were plans. There is no confirmation of any "ambulance full of explosives" or anything else. Maybe we could just wait for confirmation before running around waving our hands like 4 year old girls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Volker Kluwe, who is the Police Chief in Hannover, was the guy who reported that they had concrete evidence that someone wanted to set off an explosive device in the stadium, going by all the reports/reddit/twitter.
