    Hello,

The World at War series is still the best documentary made about the second World War.

Does anyone know which of the various series about World War 1 is the best? any that come close to World At War?

    Regards

    The Great War (1964)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057753/

Absolutely amazing documentary series, and the inspiration/template for the much better known World At War series.

    Thanks for the quick response.

This is good to know. Thank you. I just did a quick Google and this seems to be the very thing I was looking for.

Do you anything about the BBC series from last year - The First World War, 10 episodes?

How does Great war compare to it. I've been searching for the DVD but the BBC don't seem to have released it.

    Cheers

EDIT: Holy Smokes, Great War is £200 on Amazon UK :o

I'm afraid I haven't seen that one so can't offer a comparison, sorry.

The Great War series was re-released by one of the UK newspapers a few years ago and I picked up the complete DVD set at a jumble sale, not knowing what it was exactly.
I was stunned, to say the least! :)
The entire thing is available on YouTube:

    Thanks for the Youtube link.

It is for my Dad so I might try to copy them onto a DVD.

    Cheers.
