Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Brilliant performance today, congratulations to all Connacht fans

Loving the irony that the coverage on sky is now making way for the greyhound racing

Congrats Connacht, the fans, players and coaches.
Absolutely immense today, probably as impressive a performance as I've ever seen from a team in their first final.

Old fellas alongside me with tears in their eyes with 5 minutes to go.

    Enjoy it.

Anyone got a full match replay. Would take the edge of the hangover in the morning if I knew I could watch before heading up the m18.

In jerry flannerys pub and his ould fella was as happy as any Connacht man!

Unbelievable..the streets of Edinburgh ringing with "connnacht is Galway only"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 335 ✭✭HanaleiJ5N

I'm Limerick born and bred, never really bought into the Munster thing, started college in Galway in 2004 and took in a few home games at the Sportsground just to see what it was like, over time I grew a bit of an attachment to it all, loved the people I met at the games, even made a few friends. Don't get to as many games since I left college, I try to get one or two a year, it was tough going until 5/6 years ago but it's been a joy to see the progress since then, I never imagined a day like this was possible. Not going to lie, tears were shed, I held it together until I saw Muldoon's emotional interview! So happy for them all.

And I'm happy for you guys who regularly contribute to this thread, I always keep an eye on the thread and it's good to get ye're take on things, if it's made me this happy I can't imagine how you guys feel! Party hard tonight guys, Connacht abú!!!

Doesn't sound like a good song to sing.
    Connacht is five counties.
    I hope you're trolling.

So Muldoon's 275th game was the best one :p

Been a pleasure to watch Connacht all season. Have found my interest in the game I love diminished somewhat due to the way so many teams in the NH play. Delighted Connacht won.

    Amazing
I was just glad we played our game and didn't revert to media's call for "Cup Rugby "

Why wasn't Matt Healy selected for the SA tour?

"This is a famous win for Connacht Rugby, which caps a fantastic year for the Western Province." - President Michael D. Higgins today.

A fantastic win and a great day in Edinburgh, an outcome that was unthinkable even just a few months ago, but was very believable today.

Great scenes at Knock Airport for the homecoming now too, live on Periscope if anyone wants a look.

Nah, not a chance that happened, just Hulk Hands making up rubbish as usual. A very sad, bitter, individual judging by his posts on boards.

well said , restored my faith too in rugby , had gone back to soccer after WC , but Connacht victory today was what sport is all about , rather than the predicable theatrics in Milan.
say again , why Kearney is going to SA ahead of Healy is a shocking poor decision by Joe

Some crowd at Knock Airport, if that many people rocked up there at one in the morning then Galway will be absolutely rammed tomorrow.

Absolutely no possibility that happened. Just a Galway GAA 'supporter' pushing his own agenda. No need for it on this thread.

Sounds like Marnitz Boshoff has been getting in some useful practice time in a team playing attractive, winning rugby. Contributed 21 points with his boot yesterday.

It was such a great day from passers by saying hope ye win to a bunch of Glasgow lads who were insanely good crack and fully behind Connacht. What a team 1->23. And the 24th player (our fans) were simply incredible. Havnt stopped smiling. A great end to a great season.

Congratulations Connacht. This is the best thing that has happened to Irish rugby in a very long time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Surprised to see Connacht as far back as 10/1 6th favourites to repeat the trick next year, behind all the other Irish provinces, Glasgow and Scarlets. Not saying we'll definitely go back to back but I would give us as good a chance as anyone in the Pro 12 next year.

How many players are Connacht losing and how many are they bringing in?

I would have thought Henshaw would be a big loss but they played the majority of this season without him so maybe not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Sinbad_NI

Been avoiding all media until I could sit down and watch the final tonight...Connacht take a bow. WOW. Immense performance. By far the best team.

Whatever Pat has done to behind the scenes needs bottled up.
Love the willingness to play exciting rugby and 100% effort to a man.

    Congratulations, earned and deserved.

Biggest loss to my.mind is Muldowney. He's just been absulolute class thus year.
AJ will.be missed as well but there is a direct replacement Inn Boshoff. Hope he lives up to it.
