Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The people who told me would have heard it from Connacht staff.

I also don't think it was because they were cheering. I think it's because they think it was organised to be done.

I have heard the complaint thing alright from 2 separate and normally very reliable sources (some nonsense about "intimidation" and "Pro12 orchestrating" it) but even still I am rather skeptical about whole thing- I highly doubt it was an official complaint if was one made at all, just makes no sense

It was one of the highlights of the weekend the two sets of fans trying to drown each other out as Leinster bus pulled up- Leinster fans shouting "Leinster" while Connacht fans sang the Fields- absolutley nothing hostile in it at all

Have my doubts but hilarious if true. Let's greet their team bus like that at the Sportsground next season... :D

Not sure if an official complaint was made but I heard from a member of staff that Lenister weren't happy with the amount of Connacht fans that were there when the bus pulled in and how close we were to the bus. Not sure what they expected the stewards to do about it.

Because it's absolute waffle. No team would ever complain about a home side's crowd being too loud. Leinster have had to physically walk through much more intimidating atmospheres against Toulon and Clermont with much more intense fans and they didn't so much as utter a complaint.

So yeah, complete bull**** and stinks to high heavens of Connacht fans making things up to simply have a further pop at Leinster. I think a some of these Connacht 'fans' are almost dismayed at the level of goodwill that Leinster's supporters have shown towards Connacht's victory and so are resorting to making stuff up to get a reaction.

You seem to be posting more about "some Connacht fans" than the actual Connacht fans you're referring to to be perfectly honest. Nearly every post I've seen from you in the last week has been about how Connacht fans are sore winners one way or another, it's getting a bit old.

No one here knows if its complete BS or not, including you. Your rationale for it - dismay at goodwill from Leinster supporters - really, that's even more ridiculous. If it's true it's hilarious, maybe embarrassing for Leinster, if it's made up it's just a silly rumour. People here are treating it like a joke, you're taking it very seriously and getting defensive and making it into a thing about sore winners. Maybe you're the one who's sore...

Ah lads we all need to relax a second
It just so petty that it sounds like some rumor that a small minded eejit started, but fact heard from few people who are more often "in the know" does have my eyebrow raised abit
I know if shoe was reversed and it was said about Connacht complaining over something so ridiculous and no evidence but "heresay" I'd be like WarZ and getting my back up

It's probably best we leave it unless something official comes out

This is pretty much it. But I really want it to be true because it puts the people who are running Leinster (not the supporters or players) in a bad and petty light. And it would be one of the most hilarious complaints ever.

I received an infraction for saying something similar to the bolded to another poster.

I am not sore actually. To be perfectly honest the Pro 12 doesn't really bother me so long as Leinster qualify for Europe. I am just getting tired at the constant attacks on Leinster by a section of Connacht fans that just can't enjoy their win.

Have to say I'd be of the opposite opinion. I'd really hate it if it was true.
The vast majority of Leinster supporters and even the players in interviews have been very gracious.
I would be very disappointed if Connacht fans were looking for cheap point scoring over something like this. If its true, and who knows if it is or not, I would hope that it was just some comment made my a member of the backroom staff as opposed to anything formal or official.
The majority of us are just basking in the success, even the sun came out to celebrate :)

You call Connacht fans sore winners, but report a post when it's suggested that maybe you're overreacting and you're a bit sore yourself? Consider yourself lucky you weren't warned for inter-provincial BS or trolling. Also, the post was nothing like the one you were warned for recently. Perhaps read the charter again. Specifically the bit about backseat modding.

Every Leinster fan I have spoken to has been great and I wouldn't want something like this to tarnish them. The same with the players. And most Connacht fans celebrated had fun but we're gracious (on the main)

But the idea of a blazer getting his/her knickers in a twist over something silly like this is amusing to me.

If you look at the pro12 facebook page they show leinster arriving. The players walked about 10m from bus to stadium door. There is a few lads with bibs for accreditation but a few guys without recording stuff on their phones. The players look to mostly have headphones or earphones on so maybe someone who shouldnt have been there shoved a phone in front of someone and this is all one big non story getting exaggerated. There is plenty of leinster flags flying too so smells like BS to me.

If there has been a complaint then it will be something like this and about the stewards not doing their jobs properly or not enough stewards being there I would think. Leinster obviously aren't complaining about the fields of athenry being sung.

I brought a book with me for the bus/boat journey and keep occupied prior to the game. Have to say I found it hard to concentrate when the Leinster bus arrived. It seemed to get quite loud. I would have preferred if fans would have kept it down a bit myself.

Some coaching changes. Andre Bell has moved back to New Zealand. Conor McPhillips is going to be taking over as backs coach. Eric Elwood will be working with goal kickers in an advisory capacity and Simon Kavanagh has come in as performance analyst

Conor McPhillips is a great coach, I've had the pleasure (although I'm not a back and he was actually doing specialist scrum half work mostly), delighted to see him get such an exciting promotion.

• Registered Users Posts: 4,233 ✭✭✭ClanofLams

Bell is a loss, highly regarded by all apparently. They knew this was his final year though hence adding McPhillips as assistant backs coach 12 months ago. Good planning to be fair, hopefully it works out for McPhillips.

Wouldn't look at things that way, it's a good Irish 23 imo
Jordi Murphy and Andrew Trimble I'd consider lucky to be starting - if Heenan was IQ he'd be at 7 and I'd have liked Gilroy, toh or Healy on wing with olding Benching but I'm really looking forward to the match regardless

Henshaw on the Pro12 win
It was just a top-class way to to finish off with them. As I said to a number of them this is not goodbye, it could be see you later in the future . Anything could happen around the corner. But to finish in the way I did with the team I ve been with for four years, and when I was a kid, is incredible.

Interesting, but I won't have any major gra for Robbie until he actually comes home.
(Wouldn't it be great to knock them out of the Champions Cup in the Q-Final at the Sportsground  )

have to say i disagree. robbie put in his best 80 minutes in a connacht shirt in the pro12 final against his new team. many of us were highly critical of his decision but you can't question his dedication to the connacht shirt.

Its a shame that he leaves us and maybe he will regret the decision. However I cannot fault his integrity

ROG wrote:
Connacht’s meteoric rise has many in Munster doing ‘I told you so’ with regard to Rob Penney’s systems with the province. That’s a mistake and an erroneous comparison. Without getting overly technical, Connacht play a 2-4-2 pod system, much as Munster played under Penney. That game wasn’t thrown out the window by the players, as some reported. The big difference is Connacht play numbers one, three, four and five in the middle (pod) of the pitch, and keep six and seven and two and eight out wide in two distinct pods.

Munster played with the two second rows in the wide channels, which didn’t suit. That, in itself was a massive difference.

Which unfortunately isn't true ROG - Connacht play 1 second row in the middle pod and 1 out wide (usually Muldowney in middle and then Dillane out wide)

It's also not like it's gospel that certain players have to be in certain positions. They pop up all over the place, I've seen nearly all of them out on the wing at some stage.
