Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here we are then another Clasico, another permutation of managers with security beefed way way up. There's no denying that since Carlo took over Madrid these matches were rather exciting to watch. So what then of Benitez's Madrid? Well, in a nutshell, they're rather boring, especially against teams perceived of high quality. Maybe though the status of this match might make Madrid come out of their shell more? An early goal for Madrid could be disastrous for the neutral viewer. Here's hoping Barca gain the early lead. Either way, it's El Clasico and it should be a damn high quality match, with some feigning, hopefully some goals - and more importantly the flair and entertainment the status of this match makes us expect.

A pathetic display of diving, card waving and just general annoying behaviour to make me wonder why I even bother with football anymore.

In fairness Ramos asking for it already with his foot that high.

Elbow height getting the ball :)

Some run by Ronaldo and some ball! Well defended by the keeper cause Benzema couldn't miss from there it was just gonna bounce off him and hit the net!

Torn apart in a split second, great burst by Sergi Roberto, very poor defending but give credit to the move

Far too much space for Suarez there, lovely finish though.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

What the hell happened to Sergi roberto? Such a different player now.

Suarez should be in the Balon D'or discussion this year. He's been incredible.

Barca dominating, this could end badly for Rafa.

    Unreal ball from Iniesta

For the neutral Barca scoring first is infinitely more appealing the Madrid I guess. You know the game will be a bit more open now despite what Rafa would like

You are allowed put your arms around the attacker now to make sure they won't attempt to get to the ball, nice.

It was a great run though pulling defenders out of the position and taking them out of the game so Suarez (who appears to have just had his ankle torn in some way from a clip on the outside of the boot that didn't appear to get near the ankle) got free and buried it, cracking finish.

Real starting to wake up? Shocking from Barca at the back

Madrid keep giving it away cheaply in their own half putting themselves under needless pressure, not a good omen for them!

Tell Alves to wake up and take his booking, he is such a pathetic player.

It's amazing how Barcelona never hit long balls even when they are under pressure in their own box. Their keeper was under a pressure a few minutes ago and still passed it to a player at the edge of his own box who lost the ball and gave up a chance. Plenty of other times they put themselves under unnecessary pressure with risky back passes and the keeper refusing to just clear it.

    Sneaky from Ramos.

    Thats Rafa gone anyway

That was offside but Madrid have been refusing to play ball and are being dirty so probably no less than they deserve.

2-0 Neymar, hint of offside. Trouble for Madrid

Can see this getting ugly tbh. Wouldn't surprise me if Barce win by 3 or 4.

Ramos waving for offside made the decision tougher

Barca players rolling around pretending to be injured almost every couple of minutes. It never stops being annoying!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

    Iniesta is a genius.

Suarez was definitely offside and you can't argue he wasn't interfering with play, because the goalkeeper and defenders had to completely re-adjust because of his presence.

Jaysis that was a great clearance off the line. Real struggling.

Yeah Ronaldo hasn't been involved at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,217 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Yeah Ronaldo hasn't been involved at all.

Madrid can't get the ball to the forwards sure, once they got it to Ronaldo, he skinned a Barca defender, drove into the box and put in a great ball, Benzema shouldn't be on the pitch he clearly isn't ready for the first team return and James/Bale can't get going either.

The passing at the back has ensured they don't get the chance to do anything anyway cause its been shocking.
