Guys

Going building my own gaming pc - i would like to play most games at a good fps and resolution but definetely not all games at ultra resolutions

here is what i am going for

CiT 1015BS Micro ATX Case with 500W Power Supply Unit
MSI NVIDIA GTX 950 2 GB GDDR5 128-Bit DL-DVI-I/HDMI/DP 3 DX12 Pci-E Graphics Card
HyperX Savage 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 2400 MHz DDR3 CL11 DIMM XMP Memory Module
AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core 3.7GHz 4MB Socket FM2+ 95W Desktop Processor
Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2 Motherboard (Socket FM2+, A68H, DDR3, Micro ATX, PCI Express 3.0)

i have hard drive, screen / windows license and all peripherals already

I can get the above for 450 euro and build myself

I know the proc and motherboard are FM2 slot which isnt ideal but i should get a few years out of it anyway

What ye think of this ?

I'd stay away from AMD for the CPU, an i3 is a better option.

I'd also get a separate case and PSU, when they're sold together, the quality is normally lacklustre.

Will be a little worse for gaming, but its easier and cheaper to upgrade your GPU in six months than your CPU and motherboard

thanks, this is for gaming so why would i buy one thats worse for gaming ??

If you have a HDD already, then you'll b able to get my build with a 950 for about €460 or so, which will be better than the i3

what is better than the i3 ?

i presume you mean the i3 is better than intel and the 950 is a better gpu than the first one you listed

The i3 will be better than the AMD one that should have said.

You won't find a gaming benchmark where the AMD outperforms it.

those tests arent gaming tests though. and i3 is double the price

Have a look yourself if you won't take my word for it, everyone here, on Reddit or TomsHardware will tell you that the i3 is leagues ahead in gaming, with a viable upgrade path in future.

ok , its not that i dont believe you. its just that i dont want to spend extra when the AMD might suffice

the motherboard you mentioned above, will that be compatible with an i5 in the future or would i have to upgrade that also ?

AMD will suffice, it's just not as good, and hotter, it's really a no brainer for a few euro.

All Haswell chips will work with that board, e.g. i5 4460, i7 4790.

Almost any chip from the same chipset will work.

AMD aren't competitive at all for CPUs right now, the reason they're way cheaper is because theres no demand for them.

this is coming to 450 euro. Can you recommend a case and psu for this lot ?

@solitude - where you getting that lot for 450 ? mine with the case and psu would be closer to 550 (amazon)

is the 1600mhz dimm enough ? and what kind of case would this m-board fit ?

Yeah, you're not going to notice any real difference in ram speeds.

The 860K is about 50% slower than that i3 in the latest games, it's only worth buying if you're never going to be playing beyond the likes of Minecraft and CS: Go or other hardware friendly games. For modern games, it's a pointless buy as it would bottleneck even lower end graphic cards.
