In about two hours, Jimmy F. will pass within 15km of the finish and then head up the west side of Inishowen with (only) another 200k to go!

Was just mapping it in strava, 159km i reckon to the end.

53km till Mamore, might save tackling that for breakfast:D

They still have until 1pm tomorrow AFAIK, a good proportion of them will finish with any luck :)

Even at Registration, some of the riders were just intending to make it to Derry, either within or without the rules of the event. Eamon was encouraging them to make the finish, regardless of how long it took them. It may become a WAW Tour rather than a WAW audax, but no less an achievement for that.

    Absolutely super achievement big congrats.

His time of 144h 6m means he averaged 14.6kph including rest. Phenomenal.

Will miss tracking them when it's done, could they not go down the east coast now :D

Some pics up on the website for anyone without FB.

Congrats to Jimmy. His second time doing the course in a matter of weeks. He was also hit by a car a few days ago.

    Google
    Revelate Designs
    Apidura
    Alpkit
etc etc. They all do them.

Was away for a few hours - Bill F seems to have slowed down dramatically. I hope he's ok - perhaps he rested up for a while.

EDIT: he's just crossed the border.

Huge congrats for all those who've made it through so far and massive respect for all taking part. Looks like quite a few more will make it by 1pm.

Just watching the tracker as the time expires. I hope there's a couple of minutes leeway on an event of this length, as one rider is going to be over by ~5 minutes and another by a small bit more. Again massive kudos to all who took part.

The event itself didn't roll off the start line in Kinsale until around 06:06 (due to some eejit volunteer going missing) so that might just be enough.

The German rider who finished about ~15 minutes over the official cut-off time appears to have had about 4 hours sleep since Tuesday night, according to the tracker. And is hauling a full set of panniers too.

Out and about near Kerrykeel yesterday and chatted to a few of the cyclists along the roadside. Seriously impressive group of people, all in good form despite the huge miles in the legs at that stage ... hardiest of souls one and all.

Congratulations to everyone who completed, either inside or outside the time cut off. They've inspired me to get off my lazy ass and give audux a try this summer, just on a much much smaller scale :pac:

Just looking at this post again; Tri bars?
    Aero helmets?
    No saddlebags/panniers ?
    Spare bikes ?
    Lights ?
    Audax event ?
