Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Actually noticed that earlier this evening and they seem to give given it a proper wash and polish/wax and taken new pics. The Beshoff one is in better nick I'd hazard a guess on but hard to know.

Think they wanted 21,000 plus mine for that grey one back in Jan/Feb. Let's pretend he wanted 19 and mine for that one, that is one scenario where I could just top up my existing loan with BOI and start again. About 70 quid a week extra. Might have to go over for a gawk.

Apparently they had a boat load coming in this week but it has been pushed back due the ship being damaged en route. I wonder would this reflect in their sales figures? The chap I was talking to was due to take delivery of a 520d xdrive but has had to wait an extra week or so.

I know someone who was meant to be getting a 520d by latest, this weekend and now it's not due til late next week so something is up. Joe Duffy were telling people if the car wasn't in by March 31st, the 4k was gone. I wonder did they get the memo from BMW Ireland by now.

I heard it through the trade so it might be that they aren't telling Joe public for fear of upsetting customers.

That 6er linked is a fabulous colour. Id buy it on colour alone

Apparently the 4 k goes to 2 k after March 31st. I presume this is because Mercedes 10% is reduced to 6%.
If car is delayed be unforeseen circumstances then I assume they will honour the 4K.

Yeah that 640d is stunning. With the likes of A7, the 640d , I know you aren't too keen on s class. But they are cars that are on another planet to 330e 530e or entry even diesel equivalent in my opinion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,854 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

This scaremongering is ridiculous. Buy now or you'll lose 1 or 2k! buy the car next year year and you'll save ten thousand! Just checking prices of 640d out in U.K. The below is nice ...

Ya I wouldnt buy that crap re reductions. If they had to put the reductions on offer in January, well you can be sure they will need the same or better in april.
I was visiting dealers coming up to end of this quarter and you would swear that these deals were never to be repeated.
Looking at the new 'deal' for the 5 series, its practically identical if using bmw finance - 2k knocked off the contribution but interest rate dropped to reflect that.
Those 640d are fantastic to be fair.
Love the look of the mercedes CLS too but I have not driven one and it probably drives too soft.

I'd only buy an msport one with privacy glass, that looks dull enough in comparison.

€19900 plus mine for the Stillorgan one.

Gorgeous car - what's attracting you to that one rather than the one in Howth? The blue is very nice but I'd prefer the black personally.

Price only. The cost of change is nearly 5k in the difference, or it was when the Howth ones were dearer. Although their one has 30kms more, the spec and condition of it is unreal.

Just got this from a BMW dealer too in a generic email.

"BMW Economics Campaign Extended to July 31st
The campaign previously ended March 31st offers up €6,000 off BMW Models registered before July 31st 2017."

Stillorgan advert says "full bmw history " !!

Fantastic looking machine but your own is also beautiful, but i can understand when you have the itch !

ok so price has come down so if you could link them the stillorgan one could you get it within €1-2k dearer? if that was the case id jump, the one in black is just awesome.

don't bother being enticed by bmw deals, people should only buy a new BMW if money is no object really. €37k for a 2012 640d is outstanding value for the car you're getting IMO and pisses all over a 172 5 or 4 series.

If they were the same money, 640D or 430D?

172 5 series would be much fresher IMO... new design, new interior. Comparing like with like that is... Not a 520 vs 640.

4 series I am not so sure... Interior is essentially a 3 series and is now a few years old design wise.

I don't think the new 5 series is much of an upgrade, interior is pretty much the same and depending on your opinion of tablets sticking out of the dash it's actually worse. I'd take a 4yr old 640 over a 172 520d any day of the week.
The 4 series has it's place, that easy access boot is handy and its handling is the best in its bracket.
So 430 and 640 would be my picks over just another 5 series.

I presume the blue one is a UK car, if so check with BMW UK around the service history, the likes of BMW and Audi moved to online service histories over the last number of years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭MarkN

On it already :) got the UK plate number today and having someone I know in BMW check it out. It should've had 5 years free servicing and only finished this month so hopefully it checks out.

Might be a service log time stamp in the idrive too, my last two main dealer services have their time stamp logged in the idrive menu. I can check where exactly in the menu tomorrow if you'd like.

If you get a chance, great. If not I should have info on Monday.

I should've started it up and went through the idrive but it was in the showroom, didn't want to start making a fuss. I noticed on the part of the menu that worked with just the radio on that there was a search by pictures option so I don't know if you can scan in a copy of the service work? Would be great if all cars had that feature for future owners.

Would also go with a used 640d GC over a new 430d or 530d. Only thing putting me of it is that it feels like an older mans car than the 430d. Person I expect to see driving it is a rich man in his late 50s

Most of them are too expensive. Prefer the coupe to look at too.

I've attached a photo of mine. From the idrive main menu: Vehicle Information> Vehicle Status, scroll down the icons and select Service Requirements, then select service history.

It may depend on which version of idrive the car is running. My car is 2014 and is running NBT whereas the 2009 to 2012 MY cars were running the CIC version so it might not be available in that version or could well be hidden somewhere else in the idrive menu.

Is the pro nav worth the extra Bazz?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,297 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Before having it I would have said no but now that I have it in this car, I'd miss it but if you like your technology or into your music then I can see why someone would spec it over the basic system. The widescreen is nice, the internal hard drive is handy if your old fashioned like me and store your music collection on disk rather than streaming from your phone. Built in WiFi is handy too for browsing the web. It was a pricey enough extra on the F10 but they then offered it as part of a M Sport Plus pack which also included the harmon kardon loudspeaker system, rear privacy glass and 19" alloy wheels. However some features are a bit dated alright, eg it comes with a DVD player that most people wouldn't use these days and the screen is not a touchscreen. Pro Nav is standard equipment on the new G30.

Fair enough, my other half had the standard system in her 15 BMW but my mam has a 14 of the same system but can't stream over Bluetooth or plug in via USB, she needs a BMW adapter. The sound system is very poor, can't get it properly loud without distorting. I'm half looking to upgrade my Volvo in the next 18 months and was wondering was a Harmon Kardon sound system worth holding out for. I'm into my music and sound systems so would be looking for something good. The Bose system in an old Audi I had wasn't the best over the standard system. We had 3 A3's at the time so it was easy to compare them and the difference was fairly negligible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,297 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

You should be able to get the advanced bluetooth enabled via coding afaik or someone on here called BMWstuff specialises in upgrading the standard BMW systems to the pro systems. If your looking out for cars with the Harmon/Kardon system, then look for the built in silver speakers on the doors where the exterior mirrors are. I've no experience of the Audi Bose sound system but the sound from the Harmon/Kardon system is definitely better than the standard sound system in my previous F10.

Bmstuff installed a dension kit for me into my e60 when I had it. He is expensive but knows his stuff.

Sell your own and pick one up in UK would seem to be cheapest way presuming 640D is your pick which it seems to be.

Not surprised - any good beemer in great condition, well specced and keenly priced is going to go fast.

I spotted an x5 in Howth before Xmas I liked, but it was gone within the week.

You have to move fast if you find the right one.

It's worth pointing out many of the options (like real time traffic, wifi or online entertainment) can be purchased in the connecteddrive store anytime in the car's life ONLY if you have Pro Nav (factory-fitted).

And you can trial services as well or pay monthly...

Certainly not, probably the only one in the country I'd say. Bit of a sleeper too being in Luxury trim rather than M Sport. Has some nice extras like Pro Nav, Harman/Kardon loudspeaker system, lane departure, adaptive cruise control, etc. Tiny mileage.

    You tempted Mark?

    It's a beautiful car.
If it was about 31/32 grand would be a good buy for someone who didn't do huge mileage.

Looked at bmw figures up to March and they are only a little down on last year but was a huge jump in registrations in March. The new 5 arrived but I'm guessing a lot of pre regging going on this year and I reckon things are going to slow down even more now.

Personally I think they look wrong without the M-Sport spec. I'd imagine resale would be much better on an equivalent M Sport too.

How'd you know? Works out that you can buy one in a BMW dealer in the U.K. and including VRT, have it home with a 2 year warranty for less than you can buy the ones in Beshoffs. Just need mine gone though. I might send a few mails tomorrow and see if dealers in the U.K. would take mine as a trade.
