Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Righty-ho, win this and the final game against Sion away can be a relaxed knock out for the kids (well maybe not!)

    The team is supposedly

    Mignolet
    Clyne, Toure, Lovren, Moreno;
    ---Milner, Lucas, Allen;
    Ibe, Firmino
    Benteke

Bordeaux are modest in Ligue 1 but have beaten Moncao recently and are scoring goals.

    Sion +2________8
    Liverpool +1____6
    Bordeaux -1____3
    Rubin Kazan -2__2

A draw tonight would also be enough probably (French need would three goal swing in final game) but would mean taking the last game seriously.

I dont want to whine but I really think we should crush this lot. Just to claretfy ..it would be bordeauxing on the ridiculous if we lose

It goes on head-to-head not goal difference, so 0-0 draw puts us through tonight regardless of the last game

Well if we draw 0-0 tonight, and lose on the last day, and Rubin win their last 2, then we are out. Not a likely combination though.

Bordeaux are pants though, we should easily beat them, although that usually means we struggle to break them down.

Rubin are 1 up at the mo

Edit: finished 2-0 to Rubin. We are going top tonight with a win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    FT 2-0

Wait that could be a good thing - Liverpool could yet top the group.

0-0 won't do us tonight now?

I think people were assuming Sion would win or draw. Rubin are on 5 points so a win in the last game would put them on 8 and 0-0 tonight puts us on 7. We'd need a result in the last game.

Bloody weird group though some of the CL groups seem weird this year too, United, Chelsea, Roma and Arsenal groups anyway.

If we can't get a result tonight or against Sion, we really don't deserve to be going through.

Win tonight and its all moot, but Sion will need to get a result in the last game to be sure of qualifying.

Get used to it, 4 years left on his contract and at 150k a week we could not give him away.

I wish I wasn't used to it. Waste of space at this stage.

Really frustrating as he is so talented.

I wonder if something mental has gone with him and he just doesn't have the heart to play anymore.

Wouldn't say it's anything psychological, he's just injury prone.

We've still got Firmino, Benteke, Lallana and Ibe. Coutinho should be back for the weekend too.

ive always wondered does player insurance cover a portion or all of a players wages if there injured, long or short term unable to train type injuries, or does the club foot the entire bill including medical, anyone know for sure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,948 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

hopefully Benteke can pick up a goal, has seemed short of confidence recently.

Benteke is another lad having a pray before the game it seems. I'm always astounded by how many footballers seem to be very religious.

    Mr Brittle Sturridge
Really getting pissed off with his run of luck
Hope it changes for him soon

    Mignolet and Volner....my heart.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Commentator informs us that Bordeaux have been very fragile at the back all season. That seems the cue to me for a clean sheet for them tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Firmino back to not being good enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,948 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Firmino's made some clever runs, touch hasn't been with him though.

Looks like it unfortunately. He's had an awful 9 minutes so far, his future at the club hinges on the next 80.

    Mignolovren at it again

FFS Mignolet. Then Lucas nearly committed hari-kari.

Mignolet just mignoleting and infecting Lucas with it too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,403 ✭✭✭spiritcrusher

Did Lucas just essentially nutmeg a Bordeaux player across the 6 yard box....?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

    What was Mignolet at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Lucas just nutmeged player less that 10 ft from our goal

It's working wonders for Sturridge anyway

The only difference is that Sturridge is praying to Drake and Owen Hargreaves.

The old problem of not being able to break down a team with a lot of players behind the ball is rearing its head again.

We need a goal before the half or it will be a long long second half. If we can draw them out then we'll win comfortably. Right now they are happy to sit back and soak it up.
