I agree totally. I've been checking the thread every few minutes!! I do totally understand though that obviously with the excitement and lack of sleep and children being away over night that a ly on would've been essential!!

Morning or well after noon at this stage! I was so excited I still didn't get a proper night sleep. Sorry for the delay x where we have to pick up the kids the Internet us non existent and we stayed for a while chatting to his family :) don't worry I'm well up !

Ok ! So as most of you know I was unbelievably lucky with my tickets ! So I was not expecting great seats! :)

    TICKETS!
We got the call for tickets Monday night and I honestly screamed down the phone at the poor girl , sorcha, who rang us! MR glitzgirl applied as a surprise for me (secretly hoping we wouldnt get it at all I'd say ! ) but boy did he get a suprise when we got that call !!! :) naturally I spent the whole week not sleeping rushing around looking for Nice clothes and booking apps etc ! Was honestly best week ever! You could just feel the Christmas spirit in the air all week. And by b Wednesday everyone who even spoke to me knew I was going ! Even my poor bin man lol :)

Someone had asked if I put in a detailed application and tbh I am pretty sure i know what Mr glitzgirl wrote so yes would have been very detailed! They say the tickets work on a lottery basis and I think the majority of them do ! However ill mention an observation later about the ticket allocation !

Sorry I'm doing this on my phone app so have to break it up a bit !

    ARRIVAL !!

The day stated out fantastic. I was so excited I felt like a child at Christmas waiting for santa. While I was doing the school run I was sitting in traffic when I heard on beat that the theme had been revealed and it was beauty and the beast. Well (bearing in mind I was sat stationary in traffic with a man in a car stopped the other side of me!) When I heard the theme I started screaming and banging the steering wheel with excitement ! That is my favourite Disney movie. The year I'm going it's beauty and the beast ! It's faith !!! It's the year of Glitzgirl :D the poor man beside me got such a fright he didn't know whether to stare or ask did I need help !

A lot of prep work had gone into getting ready for the toy show ! We were given very specific details via email to say we must check in between 8pm and 8.30pm as door close at 8.30pm so naturally I left the house ridiculously early as was outside rte studio at 7pm. ! :) we have to drove through an check point where a lovely guard asked why we were here, to which I leaned across from the passenger side right in front of Mr glitzgirl and screamed we won tickets to the toy show !! The security guard shared a polite bit exasperated look with Mr glitzgirl as if to say ... uh you poor git. .. and then said enjoy smiled took our details and gave us directions to park and reception.

It was bloody freezing and the doors wouldn't open til 8pm sharp so everyone waited in their cars. Two lovely ladies in the car beside us had cookies and passed some through the window so we all sat there windows open shouting across to each other and admiring all the kids going in who were obviously performers. It was just magical and real spirit of Christmas feeling. Everyone was polite and caring and sooo excited. Here are some pics of rte studio entrance all lit up !

    CHECK IN !!!

Naturally I was out if the car and scurrying over to the entrance and reception at 7.57 sharp and the queue was around the corner of the building. Between concentrating on not letting my dress blown up and freezing to death everyone was in such high spirits. the atmosphere in the queue was electric! Everyone was so friendly and happy to be there! The building itself was a large glass building and every now and then we got a glimpse of kids in costume and between the blinds a sneak peek of the rails of clothes labelled with performers names ! Was so exciting. Kids walked past to get to the stage and all stopped to wave out to us and every adult there gave them a huge big wave back. Lit up their faces they were so excited which made the adults even more giddy!

There was a brief moment of panic at 8.20 when we still hadnt made it in the actual doors and we were nearly at the front of the queue! I have no idea if the people at the back got in or not :o

Inside the doors was a sign saying late late toy show and every couple took turns taking pics of another couple posing in front of it !

I must have asked Mr glitzgirl a million times if he had our ID I was so paranoid but he put up with me lol :) we gave our id to sorcha ( the lovely girl who rang us about the tickets! She recognised our names and was so warm and welcoming and I managed to get out an apology to her for screaming at her down the phone when she rang ! She was so nice and just laughed and said that's the reaction we like to hear !) and were given our tickets and we're straight through to the wine reception! Excuse the pictures of me lol !

    WINE RECEPTION / SEATING !!

We really were not long at the wine reception. Immediately after getting our tickets we were straight into a narrow ish hallway with drapes each side and a small table on the left with red wine white wine and minerals. You could have as many as you like so people were delighted ! There was a lady handing out santa hats to everyone and people were buzzing !

It vaguely reminded me of being in a night club and a bit squished trying not to spill your drinks as people squeezed past!

They had a pop up shop selling toy show jumpers and a few people bought some. I got a lot of compliments for my dress. Only one other girl wore a similar dress a snowman one.

Almost immediately after getting our drinks we were given a small speech by sorcha who told us there was a strict no phone policy as in the past people had posted pics of the set etc before it aired and had ruined the surprise for the audience at home. They were very strict on this to be fair and called people out if they seen people messing with their phones excessively !

She gave a speech about bathroom breaks and said how each break was only 4 mins apart from the last which was 2 mins and how if you weren't back in time you may have to wait on the floor manager to escort you back to your seat depending on where the camera was filming etc. Immediately almost everyone put down their drinks and had a panic striken face! You could almost hear them thinking omg I need to pee !!

We were told we may have items to hold and we were going to be given a quick run through before the show! The last bit of info was to hold onto your ticket because no ticket meant no prizes at the end as it was an exchange ! And with that we were queuing and off to be shown where our seats were ! :)

    THE SHOW !!!

Was fantastic. .. that is all... :) what else can I say about it. :D While queuing to get our seat I was actually squeaking with excitement and hitting poor Mr glitzgirl on the arm repeatedly with excitement ! We had fantastic seats middle block and 3rd Row from the front. We were given a brief safety talk by a lovely man named Kim (sp?) The floor manager, mainly for people in yhe third block block c as there was an over head camera constantly swinging around!

We were given a Hugh green leaf and told to put it flat on our heads and not to take it down until we heard Ryan sing. We rehearsed a few times. And all I kept saying was omg I'm part of the show !! I'm helping !! In a random stroke of luck the girls we were talking to in the queue outside were sitting right beside us and I have to give them a shout out because they made a fantastic night even better ! They were christmas nuts and we randomly got pictures taken while the set was being finished.. naughty I know but ssssh! ;) t he pictures you see below are the set about 10 minutes before going live !
My initial impression of the set was that it was fantastic and once that faded I realised I was quiet surprised by how small it actually was. It was a lot of moving and Co ordination and clever camera work during the show to make it flow so effortlessly and look like such a large space ! Also it was unbelievably busy! Directly behind the cameras (there was about 6 in total ) was easily 10 people moving stuff or directing kids on and off set or promoting Ryan to move along or how long to the next break etc! It was fascinating to see it working behind the scenes so to speak !

During the breaks Ryan interacted with the audience a lot the whole crew were fantastic! Such great attitudes and enthusiastic! I'm sure if they ever need people the crew from the Christmas forum here could step up because they had the same love of christmas that we have here ! It really felt like a magical time again like when you were a child waiting on santa !

During the break Ryan would ask were we all ok how we thought it was going mention the great work of the crew and was caught frequently running around (directed by Kim ) to get into place for the next part of the show after the break. He was often a bit off or sometimes the wrong side of the studio so you would hear him mutter oh sh$t and laugh and run over to where he was meant to be. :)

As people were walking back in from the bathrooms he actually walked alongside one girl randomly and started asking her how was the bathroom were the facilities ok! He had the same care free enthusiasm that he has on camera but a bit less child friendly ! He mentioned that he was exhausted from running around and couldn't wait to get home for a beer ! He went on to say that he can keep the grown up talk as something special for the audience and how the toy show was such a magical over the top love of innocence and childhood! So true !

Some good examples to give you a behind the scene prospective was the lady who was pregnant, the one Ryan pulled up out of the audience ? During the break he had been talking to us and she shouted out I love you ryan ! Well naturally he skipped over to her and asked her about when she was due and he said no no you have to have it tonight ! On live TV! Babies first toy show and started chanting "have it now " before the show started again he gave her a wink told her he would come back to her later and for us to remember the chant and during that segment he pulled her out of the audience !

A lot of behind the scenes acts of kindness. For instance the guest speaker who was reading the books with the kids yes Mr David Williams !! After his part was over he wipped the cream from his face he went back over to the kids and shook their hands and spoke to them for a while. He also stepped off side and waved at the audience and on his way out he spotted the man in the front row in the snowman suit, smirked looked him up and down real obviously and made a call me sign with his hand and winked and walked away. Well the audience erupted laughing ! I'm not sure if that was seen on the show or not !!

And while I think if it ryan does look a bit skinnier on telly for some reason! He is still quiet skinny and tall though !

At the end of the show a security guard made sure people from the audience werent allowed on set but I managed to get a few pics in ! :)
Everyone had to collect their prizes at the end after handing in your tickets !

    Overall experience !

    Fantastic !!

I mentioned earlier about tickets. Well during the wine reception the girl sorcha who rang us about tickets came up to a group of 4 people beside us gave them a hug and while she was trying to be discreet I think the girl she hugged had gotten a bit merry already and was thanking sorcha again and again for getting her the tickets. Also beside mr glitzgirl a lady sat on her own. During the show she told us how her niece was on work experience as the show and had subsequently gotten her younger nice (the work experience girls younger sister ) a part on the show driving the cars. So a few people noticed things like that and came to the conclusion that some tickets are obviously given to senior staff or as gifts to crew for them to allocate as well as the lottery system they have in place.

I also want to mention the jumper give away. A few people bought toy show jumpers in the pop up shop at the wine reception , only then to find out that they had won a jumper in the show and they were sickened as they could not refund the jumper they had bought prior to the show !

Overall though there was nothing that I felt ruined the show or the experience for me. And yes I would definitely do it again !! :)

Thanks Cork Lass! I can't wait to watch it later ! As we were right in the middle there was a camera on us nearly all the time. When I could turn on my phone I had a load of texts and pics from his cousins as they were up watching the show with their children and my son. Super excited when they saw us !

Thanks ! Ah I'm a girls girl at heart but if I started playing with dolls he'd definitely question my sanity. Delighted to see them go to kids who will use them and enjoy them. And we get on so well with his cousins our eldest loves visiting the kids too. So it makes sense to go as a group and bring the 4 oldest children as my youngest is just too young to go ice skating ! They were delighted when we told them and we love spending time with them so everyone is happy.
:) haha lol I was on it and still haven't seen it yet we will watch the re run tomorrow can't wait !! Hope you had fun partying !

First of all thanks for the great report!!

But I have to comment on the people being sickened at not being allowed a refund for the jumper.
Unbelievable, after the amount of freebies that they got which I would call that serious cheek to expect a refund. Sure they could have given their freebie back or give it to a homeless person or something.

I know people that were at the show a few years ago and they also had a great night but what they got was a cd and a 1 night stay in a hotel so these people can count themselves mightily lucky to get what they did.

I was told many years ago that the best way to get tickets is through knowing people that work there. I would say that the LLTS is no different so for people to complain is pretty petty, I would love to tell these people to gets into the real world.

That said I am delighted to see how much it meant to you and fair play to your hubby for pulling it off.

Hi jimd it was pretty funny to watch people's reactions to the jumpers alright! I agree whole heartedly they could always give a jumper as a gift to someone if they needed to! It was a fantastic night and as u mentioned unbelievable prizes given away on the night too ! :)
