Gloves for walking dogs?

Hi all. So my fingers are getting achey with the cold when I'm out walking the dogs in this weather but I find if I wear regular gloves my grip on the lead isn't great. In particular the plastic bit on the extendable lead. Khalis been known to buck in excitement if she sees a bolting rabbit or out of fear if another dog is making shapes at her so I've just been avoiding gloves altogether rather than risk her getting away from me. Is there gloves designed for this sort of thing? Can anyone recommend anything?

Try gardening gloves - ones with grip strips on them.

Recently bought myself a pair of those, quite happy with them.

Thin enough to give you feeling and dexterity, warm and toasty and quite grippy.

Rainproof, but not waterproof (ie once you soak them they are wet)

Aldi do a pack of 3 gloves every so often that have the fingers and palms dipped in rubber that I find ideal. You can also get them in a builders merchants.

The best thing would probably be equestrian gloves as they are designed for riding and handling horses. You don't need to get really expensive ones. Ones for a few quid or a fiver work just as well.

I use my horse riding gloves for walking Bob in the winter. They're designed for gripping reins in all kinds of weather conditions so work a treat! If you are anywhere near any equestrian shop you'll get them easily enough and you can go from about a fiver a pair up, depending on how much you want to spend!

I have these ones the last 3-4 years. They're unisex with small being the ladies size although Amazon has them down as men's. I got them in Great Outdoors btw not Amazon - they were cheaper there. The thumb and index finger fold back so handy if you need to do fiddly work without having to take them off like tying poo bags, adjusting leads etc or to let some air in if you warm up on a long walk. We walk at 7:00am and our area is quite cold and damp this time of year with the river so I find them fantastic! Sadly we got caught in a freezing monsoon earlier in the year at the beach so I put them on and think the saltwater may have persisted them a bit because they're not as warm as the used to be? I may treat myself to a new pair! .

Thanks so much everyone for the really fast and helpful replies! I think I'll be ordering some equestrian ones tonight. I like that they aren't too bulky but have extra grippy palms! I would never have thought of them myself!
