    Hello,

I hope you might be able to give me any suggestions on a setup that might meet my needs as I am a bit torn between a home cinema setup and a dedicated music setup.

First off all I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible so I'm not looking at high end setups.

I would like to have a surround sound setup and i was looking at either of these two products, do I have to buy an receiver for these products to work and would you recommend one over the other

    WHARFEDALE DX1 HCP
    TANNOY HTS101

Possibly down the road I would like to have the option of adding 2 stereo speaker for just listening to music is there a reasonable priced receiver that would allow me to do this? and if so would two bookshelf speakers really give me a much better audio experience when it comes to music than the surround sound would?

if this isn't an option without spending big bucks might I get a better/richer/deeper(!) audio quality going for one of the below setups and forgoing the 5.1 experience but still using them for my TV?

or might a good sound bar like this which seems to get excellent review be a good meeting point between the two?

I watch more movies and TV then listen to music so that would be taken into consideration and I would'nt be listening to either at very loud volumes if that makes a difference.

I know this is bit of a long one and thanks for you time in advance.

    Hi Menuisier.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

The DX1 and the HTS101 are just speakers so you would need an A/v Receiver to run them.

You could pair them up with the likes of the Yamaha RXV379 for just £439.00
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/home-cinema-separates-bundle-deals/pah012703

Or the HTS101 along side the RXV379 for just £429.00
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/home-cinema/home-cinema-systems/pah012704

Both these packs would sound great!!!

In terms of going for a mini Hifi in your link you would lose all form of surround sound as they would only run two channel stereo and if you will be mainly watching movies and TV with only a little music I feel you would not get what you wanted from a Mini Hifi.

To save on space and wires you could go for a soundbar but again they do struggle to reproduce surround sound unless you go into the higher range.
In saying that the Q Acoustics M4 was very well reviewed and sounds the part, currently priced at £299.00

You could go all out and look at the Denon Heos Home Cinema soundbar priced at £599.00

I hope this helps a little.

Any questions please drop me a post.

    Men,

    per your email and above!

Apologies for the delay getting back to you – we are really behind and trying to catch up:

I can’t do any better  on the RXV379 / DX1 pricing than the advertised £439 pricing unfortunately

If you wanted to opt for the RXV679 / DX1 then again the best I can do is the package deal at £589 / €849

Apologies again for the delay  getting back to you and keep me posted if I can assist in any way,

    Best regards,
