Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My housemate is doing a project on Irish wakes and we have been looking for some examples in film but most are American films with American/Irish families in America.

Anyone know of films with actual Irish wakes in them? Ideally Irish films but anything really with an actual Irish wake in it

We have been looking at Da (1988) and Waking Ned (1998) but could really use some better examples as I cant get my hands on Da and Waking Ned is a comedy, not great examples :)

    Any help or ideas welcome

The film Kings (2007) spends most of its second half in the back room of a bar in Kilburn where four Irish men are reunited at a friend's wake.

The film is set in the world of the working Irish men who emigrated to London from the West of Ireland, so it's a very specific sort of wake - but also true to life.

The Run of the Country has a wake in it.

Dunno how traditonal it is with the Ra in it though.

probably not what the OP had in mind, but its one of the highlight moments of The Wire

Funny enough it was the Wire wake that immediately sprung to mind when I read the OP's post! You beat me to it! :).
