Barney vs. Taylor final to roll back the years maybe?

All my money's on Lewis now though.

    Christ that was amazing.

Gutted MVG is gone but fair play to Barney, just think that was his final, i could be wrong but i just cant see him produce a performance like that again

I've remembered over the last hour or so just why RVB has been my favourite dart player for over a decade.

He can be a moan, absolutely, but there is nobody better to watch. And only Taylor can rival him for match play.

    Phenomenal.

One of the best matches I've seen in any sport. Two phenomenal athletes.

Get in there Barney, what a man, pity he can't play like that more often. MVG highest losing average at the World's apparently!

Yep, in pretty incredible fashion too.

Unbelievable Barney. Hope he make's it 6 now

Incredible match but makes the rest of the tournament that little bit less interesting from here on despite it being more open for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

That was unbelievable stuff. Hope Barney continues that form.

Sad to see MVG go but it was worth it for that match alone

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,390 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

The only downside to that result is that it's very unlikely we'll see a nine darter now. Lewis is the best chance but I don't see him pulling it off.

Amazing stuff, delighted to see him play to his best.

Some match, Van Gerwen is unreal under pressure.

I hate to say it, but Taylor half called it yesterday during his ramblings after being asked if MVG was beatable.

He said he could beat him (obviously), and he said he fancied MVG might struggle against Barney too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,838 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

Fair play Barney. It's always good to see an old timer knock a pup off his perch.

Some great games of darts today.

    I can't agree.

The fawning over MVG on the coverage will be over. You'd swear it was going to be a procession the way some went on.

There is some marvellous darts in store, and I'm as excited about the rest of the tournament as ever.

Wide open now really. Can't wait for the next few days

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Can Barney keep his game at this level, I'd love to see it he's been my favourite player prior to MVG for years, just worried he can't deliver this level consistently these days, really hope I am wrong, Barney!

The contrast between this lovely interview with Barney and that ego fuelled bullshit fest from Taylor last night is stark.

And I can't agree with that. They fawn over super darts and English players sometimes. It just so happens that usually whenever MVG plays he throws super darts.

Respect to Van Gerwen for the interview.
Has some bottle and really shows great sportsmanship.

No way Taylor or many others would have done that.
