Windows 10 removed Kaspersky Internet Security

I recently downloaded Windows 10 and it cleared up a lot of performance issues with my PC.

But I've now got the following message - "We turned on Windows Defender. Kaspersky Internet Security was removed."

Is this something that was buried in the small print when I agreed to install Windows 10? Also, should I just allow the free anti virus program that comes with Windows 10 to replace the program I paid for from Kaspersky? If not, how do I go about re-installing Kaspersky?

I'm just wondering if I should be posting this on a different forum. Is Windows Defender sufficient security against viruses, malware, etc.?

chances are windows defender disabled kaspersky, not removed it.

am not familiar with windows 10 security programs, but two anti-viruses cant run on a pc so maybe it asked you to remove it after all.

kapersky is the best so i'd use that if you could.

i'd use malwarebytes anti-malware, will cover you.

Thanks. I presume I will need to disable Windows Defender if I'm going to restore Kaspersky.

possibly, windows defender is anti-malware not anti-virus so it shouldn't be conflicting. but yeah something is stopping kaspersky from running

also use a browser like chrome/opera with security extensions for extra safety

Defender actually works as an antivirus now, rather than just being anti-malware. I personally use Defender and Malwarebytes Free on my Windows machine, and have never had a problem. I dont bother with third party antivirus anymore.

Thanks folks. All I know is that my PC is running a last faster since I installed Windows 10. I'm reluctant to change anything that might cause a conflict and slow things down again. I keep getting a message from Kaspersky when I launch Outlook and the computer freezes unless I dismiss the message.

Virus and malware protection is a compete blind spot for me I'm afraid. I just don't seem to be able to get my head around it properly.

These days, malware is much more of a problem than viruses are, because the current Windows operating systems are far, far more secure than the likes of XP were. Which is why I dont bother with a third party antivirus anymore.

My advice would be to use Windows Defender, Malwarebytes Free version, and be careful with your browsing habits. Run Malwarebytes manually once a month (the free version won't scan in real-time so you need to run it manually) and your PC should be well protected.
