Changing App Store country

I have many UK apps on my iPhone and iPad from the UK App Store eg BBC iPlayer and I used to change the App Store country from Ireland to UK every so often to download the latest versions of the apps.

Now it seems you need to have a UK credit card to change country. Same for changing to the German App Store, need a German cc.

Why is this happening all of a sudden and is there a workaround?? Please help

I managed to setup a UK account without a credit card a few weeks ago, it was asking for a credit card but I followed the instructions here which worked for me anyway:

Cheers for that fegusb, was able to update my apps!

Not sure why after all this time though I'm not allowed to change my original apple ID to a different country.

Having two accounts is easier than switching regions back and forth.
