Since I bought it, my laptop has been connected directly to my modem via Ethernet cable, and it runs like a train.

If I disconnect the cable, I lose internet connection.

How can I tell if my laptop has WiFi capability?

    I'm running Windows 10.

    Thanks.

    D.

As its a new (ish!) laptop and came with windows 10 it has wifi (I would be shocked if it didn't)

Sounds like you have not configured the connect to your wifi network

should help you once you know the network SSID and password

    Sorted. Thanks!

Now, if I plug in my Ethernet cable again, will it override the WiFi connection I've just made?

    Thanks again.

Yeah, should do. You'll know by the icon in system tray. When LAN is connected the red cross will disappear.

Just to be clear, wireless will always be available when you unplug from the cable.

Unless you have used the toggle switch to disable the wireless card.

    Thanks guys.

When wireless I get that radiating energy symbol.

When I plug in the cable again, I get a monitor and cable symbol.

So, cable seems to override wireless.

    Cheers.
